I had my Testosterone done at the Uro that is doing my IPP. It was at 235. At the time nothing was mentioned about it. I brought it up to my family physician and it is somewhat against it. His philosophy is as we get old we lose testosterone. My Uro has since brought it up briefly in an email. My uro believes it could benefit me elsewhere but not in the ED area.
I am torn between the side effects the family physician is worried about and the benefits that my uro believes will help.
What are your guys opinion?
What therapy do you use?
What are some natural remedies you have found?
How great were those chosen remedies?
Low T
Re: Low T
I don't know if you would find shrunken testicles a problem?
To me, that was the only side effect I had.
One of my docs who is a team doctor of the Phoenix Suns (hope they show up tonight) wondered if I'd get man boobs.
I don't think I have that.
I've found self injecting testosterone to me very cost effective unless you have insurance to cover it.
I inject 1/2ml each week and my total T level is 901.
I have found it does wonders for my libido (old people do have sex), and I believe it has enhanced my sense of well being and strength. I've seen conflicting opinions about T's effects on prostate cancer, but I do monitor that pretty closely.

Re: Low T
Hey man, just got diagnosed with low t as well. I am waiting for the endocrinologist to call me. I was referred to him by my urologist. I somehow think that my penile fracture is the reason for the low t, but my doctor said the blood doesn't lie. I'm hoping once I get on it that it helps fight my fracture/ Ed so I can feel Randy again. Still waiting for him to call though.

Re: Low T
Yes, as we get older, our T drops, at 65yo mine was in the low range, but low in my opinion, as I had no libido. No drive, not even to have oral sex on my mrs, or use a vib device to satisfy her. Of course major ED. I asked my GP Dr., and received a prescription of every 2 weeks, cypionate, and then to be tested PSA and testosterone levels. One of the members, that became a mentor, recommended a MWF schedule, 17 units each, subcutaneously vs intramuscular. (lots of vids on that subject) I get the same dose as every 2 weeks without the peaks and valleys, and without a huge jab in my thigh. My libido shot up substantially and now all I want to do is make love to my mrs. My numbers now are 700 to 900. Then had to overcome ED issue. Pills, rings, VED, PT141, Miso, Udenafil, lots of experiments. Then trimix. My mentors all suggested arginine and pine pollen, of which I take daily. That has helped lower my BP, and has increased ejaculation output some, and enlarges the Glans when erect. Also veins stick out more due to blood flow thus NO. I take 5mg cialis daily and that helps nocturnal erections and chubbies during the day.
TRT, bottom line I have the drive, the burning desire, to propagate the species, with my wife of course and we cannot have children. This is some meds to avoid testicular shrinkage. I do not have time for gym activity, but have noticed my strength has improved, attitude, mental attitude, also.
Your body your health (idaho is community property state, so my mrs owns some of my body parts) Do your research! Have fun!
To take this subject one step beyond.....TRIMIX INJECTIONS for a 65yo, has done wonders, and I can perform like a teenager!

Re: Low T
I agree with tomas1 and silverdude. T does a lot more than put libido where it should be; if my T gets down to 300ng/dL or so I feel out of sorts and a little depressed. I smear a little gel on a few square inches of skin once a day, and let it dry for 10 minutes. It's made by a compounding pharmacy and currently costs 50 cents/day. Not covered by insurance but that's ok; there's no fooling with yearly "pre-authorizations." No shots=no peaks and valleys. My doc keeps my supply such that my T stays around 500 and all is well; he says that the high end of the normal range is around 1200, but over age 50 or so, going above 700-800 would maybe feed some incipient prostate cancer. (Our FT friend oldbeek disagrees with that advice so you have to decide for yourself.) No man boobs but I do have shrunken testicles. Not to worry: women care nothing about testicle size; my wife and I go to nude resorts, and no woman has looked at my equipment disdainfully!
I know of no natural way to bring T up, and I wouldn't waste money on non-prescription T: who knows what's in it, and of course you don't get blood measurements.

Age 79 in 2024. On testosterone replacement due to hypothalamus malfunction. (Attention depressed guys: low testosterone is a cause.) Healthy health nut but ED due to getting old. Like to keep enough cardiovascular ability to thrust for 30 min.
Re: Low T
While Total Testozterone is important, perhaps more so
is Free T. These is a liver produced globulin which ties
up some of the T and you are left with FreeT which
I think is most important.
Ask URO to run test for SHBG (sex harmone bound
globulin) and Free T.
I'm finding Boron pills (Amazon) reduces SHBG and
increases Free T. It's easy and cheap. I also found
(and experience) less arthritis pain.
Search for ways to lower SHBG and not references
to Boron. Look up the research paper.

Ditto, my Uro says it's the foundation upon which male sexuality is built. As well as fatigue, muscle and a sense of well-being. Mine was borderline 200+/-. With a compound pharmacy cream, it's in the 450's now. The new FDA protocol requires testing testosterone, PSA, hemoglobin, and hemocrit every 6 months to re-up the Rx. The concern is clotting and prostate issues. So far after 7 years no issues. And the testicles were shrinking anyway. They went from walnuts to garbonzos now. I often wonder how a vasectomy at 38 affected all this.
NOT an MD. 72, M52 yrs, CenTX US. Inj since 12/2016, a yr after pills stopped working. Caverject for a yr. 1/2018 Tri-Mix at 30 pap/2 phent/60 pge @0.3ml, now 0.5ml 80mcg/ml PGE1. DE/Anorgasmia setting in since 5/2019, worse now.
Re: Low T
I just checked and my free T is 148.3.
Out-of-range but not much.
I asked my surgeon about the shrunken nuts and he said it would give the pump more room to roam.
I also had the vasectomy in my 30s.

Re: Low T
I also was diagnosed w low T about 6 years ago.. low 100s started the cream and after 3 months it was only up to low200s.. started getting injections by nurse of 1ml every two weeks which got me feeling right but a bit of a rollercoaster… so after two years of going and get shots I started self injections of 1/2 ml once a week and at last checkT levels were in the 500s. Feel great, no rollercoaster, and feel much more in tune… as w everyone else my nuggets are definitely shrinking…. Oh well they’re not needed anyway.. been on tri mix shots since last November and it’s been a game changer!! Only down side so far is I’m already increasing a bit and only been doing it 8 months. Have a VL so sure it will progress… also sure at some point… surely before I retire.. I’ll be considering an implant. As said by others. Low T is a real thing.. if your low check into it and take care of it. Makes you feel much sharper and better
59 years old ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works but diminishing results with pain. Implanted 5-22 Baylor,Scott, and White Dallas.Dr Michael Wierschem, infrapubic Coloplast 20cm and 1cm RTE. Going strong and loving it!
Re: Low T
T causing PC cancer is a myth. The doctor that wrote the paper on it got a Pulitzer Prize, so everyone follows it. Actual study only involved 3 patients and was done in 1946. Would not qualify as a school term paper today. Read or watch on U-tube,,, Dr John Mulhall from sloan kettering. He is world renown for his work. He expands on ALL the down sides of low T. Short answer is PC will thrive on T 0f 200. Unless you get it to absolute 0 , PC could grow on it. There is a practice in LA that espouses that low t is what causes PC. Low T results in more aggressive cases of PC, studies have suggested.
