Well, it's in, apparently. Surgery went well with Dr. Hakky and hopefully all will continue.
Quite surreal experience today. I'm sure I will have many questions but a few more for now;
How does one ice a cast? My junk will be in this cast for two days, I just put ice on top of that?
When did you, if did, realize this was an excellent decision?
I've never had surgery before so this was all new to me.

Re: Bionic Today
Frozen peas are a great way to ice, because the bag is 'soft' and conforms to whatever shape it needs to. Also, they are not as cold as a solid block, so a bit gentler kind of icing, less risk of getting a freezer burn. I just got 2 bags and switched them out every 20-30 minutes.

Re: Bionic Today
great idea, thank you. Another question, Im dribbling all over the place when i pee. I assume this is normal?
But the cast is stained with a bit of piss now. It comes off Thursday, but just didn't want to increase infection rate.

By "cast" do you mean just a big bunch of gauze wrapped around your dick? You're not talking about a rigid plaster or plastic cast right?
If it's just the big bunch of gauze, I can relate. Yes, I still (almost 3 weeks out) have a fair amount of dribbling during urination, and also afterwards. I think the urethra is just irritated from the surgery and the new equipment in the neighborhood, especially if your cylinders extend into the glans. I even had a burning sensation when peeing (and got tested for urinary tract infection, which was negative). Doc said it was just irritation and ibuprofen has helped that a lot. I wasn't supposed to take ibuprofen until a week post-op, as it's a blood thinner. But that's when the burning started anyway.
When I first peed, after the catheter removal, I drenched the top portion of the guaze wrapping. So I just cut the wet part off and put some fresh gauze pads over it. I think urine is supposed to be sterile. I wouldn't want to get your incision soaked with it, but if it's just around the head and you dry it off, I think you're okay. I removed the guaze wrapping for good when I took my 48 hour post-op shower.
Also, the difficulty with peeing, aiming, dribbling, is a great reason to get a handheld plastic male urinal. You can just hold it with your dick in the large open hole for the time it takes, then dump it in the toilet. Hope all that helps. I had my surgery 19 days ago and have a post about my recovery with more detail: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=17451
