SSRI medications and ED
Has anyone else experienced ED due to SSRI medications. I recently restarted zoloft (sertraline) first at 12.5mg then 25mg, experiencing worse erections and lack of morning wood. Any other guys who can relate their experiences on SSRIs?
35 gay male, top/vers. ED complicated by long-term SSRI and quetiapine use as well as smoking previously. Currently on 5mg cialis daily. Also tried sildenafil 25-100mg on demand, all successful.

Re: SSRI medications and ED
Hello,
I have been on 10mg vortioxetine, 40mg Citalopram and 15mg Mirtazapine.
I have ed due to psychological reasons and antidepressants didn’t help but they didn’t affect my erections either.
But I know that sexual dysfunctions due to antidepressants are really common

26yo from Italy. Psychogenic ed since dec 2019, got worse in Jan 2021. On Cialis 5mg every 24hrs, it works! But masturbation and sex bring me a lot of anxiety. On talk-therapy.
Update: diagnosed with slight Peyronie’s, investigating more on that

Yes, SSRIs alter the chemistry in the brain and may cause or worsen ED.
Mirtazapine is an alternative antidepressant often prescribed by doctors: no sexual side effects but it may cause weight gain.

Re: SSRI medications and ED
I have taken prescription SSRI antidepressants and other mental health drugs for many years. For a long time I was ignorant of the effect on my libido. About 5-6 years ago, my psych weaned me off of medications that he said I didn't need now that I am quite a bit older. One of these was paroxetine (brand name Paxil), an SSRI. When I eventually discontinued the paroxetine, my libido returned very strongly; a pleasant and unexpected positive! I also lost about 15 pounds of weight due to slight decrease of appetite, not a problem.
I still take another antidepressant which is mirtazapine which has worked well for me ever since.
So, my experience is that some SSRI's can cause loss of libido (which for me more or less equates to ED).
I do use a vacuum pump for erections, and my libido is still a lot higher than I had thought it might be at my age of 84.

That is the whole reason I’m on here. I’m 38 and having to do injections because viibryd ruined me. I don’t react to sexual stimuli the same, lost some sensation there, and have Ed that doesn’t respond to oral meds. It sucks. I didn’t have as much problem on them until I tried coming off(pssd). I’ve been like this two years.

I came off Venlafaxine about 8 years ago when I was 20 and things have never been the same since. Low libido, rarely have morning wood, begin losing erections within 20ish secs of stopping stimulation. Would often lose erections when having sex. It sucked but I was in denial about it for years. I finally approached a urologist when I was 25 who prescribed me daily cialis and shockwave therapy. I'm agnostic as to whether shockwave therapy did much but cialis definitely helped me achieve something resembling a normal sex life. Still very, very bitter to this day that I was put on SSRIs without being warned about the sexual dysfunction side.
29 years old. ED caused by CPPS/HF-like symptoms since coming off antidepressants in 2012. Taking Cialis 5mg every other day and undergoing pelvic floor physiotherapy.

Same here... 5mg daily cialis is working well, with 5-10mg extra on Fridays. From there, next steps will be to do 5mg daily cialis, with on-demand 50-100mg sildenafil or 10-20mg vardenafil. From there I suppose injections, and ultimately implant.
