You don't consider loss of length, girth and having a plastic block in your scrotum a con?

I didn't have any loss of length. Even if I had some, which I had been prepared for, I wouldn't have regarded as a con. I might have lost a little girth, but if I did, and I can't say for sure, I don't consider that a con either. As far as "a plastic block in your scrotum", for me, its a non-issue. I'm never aware of it unless I specifically am trying to find it.

Compared to the alternative, which for me was total severe ED (pills, trimix, and even pumps didn't give me a usable erection), I agree, no con's. However, there are risks, most significantly infection, and some other risks. That was the main downside, for me, when considering the surgery.

I'll be 79 years old, on Feb 17th., had my Coloplast Titan OTR implant on August 6th .last year. The prostate cancer surgery was June 6th.of 2011...first time I had ever been in the hospital or had any kind of surgery. It has totally cured the ED my wife and I suffered through for years! Our sex life is back to being great and every week, quite often 2 or 3 times a week...a real miracle in our eyes! As far as I am concerned everything associated with the implant is 100% POSITIVE...there are NO NEGATIVES!!! It has totally restored my confidence and my ability to have sex at the same level as when I was 20 years old...TERRIFIC! Don't hesitate any longer, go for it and have the faith and confidence to regain it ALL.

I got a great outcome with Dr. Lipshultz. I would say that the fit of my implant was just about prefect. I lost about 3/4" at the start but I gained all of that back after the first year. I got the AMS 700LGX but I think he does a lot of titians too. He sugested going to a larger girth that would automatically mean getting the Titian, but my wife prefered the estimated girth that the lgx would produce so that's what I got. Either way I would have benn happy.

Thanks knotreel for the reply...everything I have read about Dr. Lipshultz has been positive..Did you lose any girth?.How did your recovery go and was yours done at St. Lukes? He never mentioned the titan...showed me the ams 700 and gave me sample of the pump..8 days away and nervous and excited...go in thursday for blood work..One more thing...anyone that can tell me where to get the jockey shorts with the pouch..while getting blood work...can pick up the shorts... sure I will have more questions...Carl

I bought mine from a Jockey Outlet store in Carsbad, Ca. There was a sale on at that time so I got four pair for about $24, which is much better than Amazon. I see with a Google search Macy's carries them. I don't know how well they are available at local stores though.

My doc wanted me to wear two pair, to provide better support, and he put them on me at the end of surgery while I was still under anesthesia. He said to wear two pair as long as I had pain in the groin area.

Dapubman, the 700 lgx clinders will expand to 18mm girth so 2 x 18 = 36mm total girth for the pair. so that will be your total girth plus a mm or two for tissue around the clinders. You will not be round anymore, so you will be oval shaped possibly about 38mm or so total width. My implant was done at Methodist on Fannin, but that was choosen because my lead doctor was Dr. T Boone who did the AUS implant in conjuction with Dr. Lipschutz. If things go like they usually do you like be noticably shorter and smaller in girth when you first get inflated, I followed Dr. Lipshutz instructions to inflate to the max everyday for an hour. It took me about 6 months to see some get noticable results, it takes time to restrech your lenght and girth. Good luck and rest comfortably in your choice of doctors.

Thanks again for the reply knotreel... another question..how bandaged up are you when you leave the hospitial..I live in Livingston...which will be a 1 1/2 hour ride...is it something bulky or something to where it will be a comfortable ride..thanks again..Carl

How bandaged up your are depends on the way your doc does things. But I think whether you find a 1 1/2 hour ride problematic will depend on your body's reaction to the surgery. I saw a video somewhere on the Internet by a guy in Australia who had the surgery and then two days later got on a plane to Tasmania becuase that is where he lives. He didn't have any problem with that but IMO it was a bit gutsy. You will probably be okay with the car trip. You should plan to have someone else drive you, just to be certain you are okay, although I did drive myself someplace 20 minutes away on the freeway on my third day after the surgery.

For the first week or two after my surgery I used a foam rubber seat cushion that is about 3 inches thick and the shape of an oval doughnut. The open hole in the middle allowed my tender parts to be in the hole were they did not get squished while I was sitting. I would recommend you get such a thing for your car trip. I got mine at a local drug store that has a particularly large selection of medical supplies.

You know, I can't rememberer but I don't think there was a bandage when I was discharged. I stayed overnight night at Methodist, next morning they pulled the catheter and prior to that I was bandaged up in what looked like the pyramid of Giza with a tube coming out the top. They took all that off when the catheter was removed and I am pretty sure there was no bandage after, probably would have remembered a bandage because peeing would have been interesting to say the least. I had the scrotal approach as well as a separate incision above the pubic bone where the reservoir was put in. The incisions were made by Dr. Boone as they were necessary to implant the artificial urinary sphincter. I don't know how Dr. Lipschultz would have done it without the two incisions provided by Dr Boone?

Just hung up from getting verification of implant surgery....I am Carl...67 year old male..tried all the pills and pumps...nothing has worked in the last 2 years...Started reading about implants...and decided this was the answer...I am in Texas..Livingston...about 80 miles north of houston...Read all I could about Doc's in the area and decided on Dr. Larry Lipshultz...He is considered the best in this area...Had a visit Dec. 7th and he said I am a perfect candidate for a implant...He did send me to a cardioligist as I have a-fib...to get clearance...that went well ..and today set surgery date for Feb. 12th at St. Lukes.. Very nervous right now...but want to get this over and get my sex life back..so life is "normal"..Frank Talk has been very helpful and has eased my mind... My health is good...never actually been in the hospitial for surgery until last year...Had partial knee replacement on both knees..both were one night stay over and both went very well...knees were in terrible shape..now they are perfect...hope this goes as well...will let Frank Talk know how it goes..Carl

Went to hospital yesterday and did my pre-admit and blood work...all went well...waiting for results...they should be good...I have medicare with no co-pays.. so my part was $1184.00...took care of that..so all is looking good...go in Tuesday mourning at 6-30...surgery is set for 8-30.. Dr. Larry LipShultz will be doing the procedure...feel very comfortable with him...he has a very high reputation..he does over 100 implants a year...getting the ams 700 lxg.. excited and nervous..will let everyone know how it goes..Carl
