Getting AMS 700 IPP this month. Questions

Postby jjmmiler4 » Thu Sep 02, 2021 9:43 am

This forum has been wonderful. I found most of the answers I had questions to in the discussion archives. Just need some more insight.
Please feel free to answer one or multiple questions. Any and all info is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

All questions are related to the AMS 700 series;
1) Is the need to keep the penis upright(via the underwear, toilet paper tube, tape, etc.) after surgery a result of
a) Penoscrotal or the Infrapubic incision?
b) Prevent curvature in the penis as it heals?
c) Both?
2) Has anyone used both Cialis(or other ED meds) and VED before IPP surgery? What were the results? I have read the research on using VED before surgery but have not found anything with a combination of ED meds and VED. For me, the Cialis helps with blood flow but no erection.
3) Has anyone had Dr. Angermeier at Cleveland Clinic perform an IPP surgery?
a) How were your results?
b) Insights?
4) I have read that any position can be performed with the implant, but are there more difficult or uncomfortable ones to perform due to the implant? Completely understand everyone’s anatomy is different.
a) If pain/difficulty, does it go away after the 1st year?
5) My wife wants to know how aggressive she can be with cowgirl position after recovery?
a) Is there a certain degree/angle/cyclic frequency that can cause pain to us?
6) What other item(s)/routine(s)(besides ice, lying prone, baths, etc.) were helpful in your recovery?
7) Any other insight/advice you could offer?
Thank you again!

Hi, it is good to keep your penis upright after surgery because of pseudo coffin effect. our bodies will try to reject the implant. i recommend that you use a jock strap to hold upright. this will give you a more normal erection with an upward angle or curve. remember: you have only one chance at this to maximize your results. i have the AMS 700 with LGX cylinders . i had my surgery in oct 2018. please let me know if you need more info

I'm 1 year to the day since having an AMS700 put in. I can't really say exactly why they want to have one keep the penis in the upright position other than it's supposed to make for a 90 degree or less erection angle. I ended up with ~100 degree angle. My guess is your inards are healing up and it's best to 'harness up' and hope for the best.

Code: Select all

2) Has anyone used both Cialis(or other ED meds) and VED before IPP surgery?

Don't even think about it! You don't want to put anything in your system that would interfere with your body chemistry. Your anesthesiologist will thank you. Besides they may cancel your surgery.

4) I have read that any position can be performed with the implant, but are there more difficult or uncomfortable ones to perform due to the implant?

Heh heh. I'm still experimenting. ;)

a) If pain/difficulty, does it go away after the 1st year?

Pain was not an issue after 2 months of cycling

5) My wife wants to know how aggressive she can be with cowgirl position after recovery?

You're a lucky stiff ;)

6) What other item(s)/routine(s)(besides ice, lying prone, baths, etc.) were helpful in your recovery?

Have 2 weeks worth of pain meds. For me pain was 90% gone after 2 weeks. Keeping the penis in the upright position was one of the uncomfortable parts. Now I prefer that position . Go figure. If your so inclined; a bit of cannabis helps quite a bit.
Ask your doctor ahead of time for post op instructions. The day of operation you will be very distracted.
Take a snapshot of the 'before' so you can gloat later. :D

If the doc leaves you pumped some. It is going to be upright. Tunes are a bit stiff at first as well hence more comfortable upright.

As for sex positions. Trial and error. Some positions you pump up hard others not as much.

We sometimes star out about 60 percent or so. If we need more you just pump a bit more.

I would ask Dr. Angermeier about his approach to sizing (particularly how aggressively he sizes his patients). He was co-author of a paper several years ago that advocated subtracting 2 cm from the measurement to avoid the "SST Syndrome" or "S"-curve deformity. These were a problem with earlier length-expanding models.

Keeping the penis upright will encourage scar tissue around the base of the implant to form in that configuration. This will help keep a more upright angle to your erection for the future. Most erections on most men are more vertical than horizontal. Implanted men have sometimes complained about their erection pointing lower than before.

Jock Strap (athletic supporter) over a generous padding of gauze did very well for me.

Everyone will be different. Experiment to find your new favorite positions and activities.

Your ability to perform in certain positions may change as well as your enjoyment of them. With your new ability, you may well enjoy experimentation previously impossible (you can withdraw, and try another position without risk of losing your erection)

I stayed flat on my back for every moment of the first week that I could. Less blood pressure on the bruising as you heal makes for faster recover.

I had enough leave time to stay 3 weeks out of work (mostly sedentary work at a desk). I may have gone overboard on taking it easy, but I enjoyed the time off and it did not hurt my recovery, for sure. I probably could have gone back to work in less than a week (with a bulge in my pants from being left partially inflated and the generous padding of gauze wound covering) but could have done half-days, I think.

Thank you again!

Going to the toilet: Urinating into a container (the hospital urinal is handy for this) and then pouring the contents into the toilet is a lot easier than trying to aim your stream. Alternative is to urinate in the shower.

Keep your surgical wound scrupulously clean and disinfected with anti-bacterial ointment and fresh bandages all the time.

my doc said don't worry about the angle when healing. There is just a tiny incision where the implant is installed. (what scar tissue) The Implants is put into your tunica's. Your old cruse muscles hold your tunica just as in the past. I was only 9 months from the time I had a solid erection till I had the 700lgx installed. My erection points exactly as it did before at 3 o'clock. I can handle any position, just as before. Laying on my belly rubbing the sheets feels just as good as it did before when rock hard. I have 3 inch in my cruse and 6 inch hanging out front. It all feels very natural except tubing and pump in my scrotum.
