To be fair the original implant and the first two revisions were done in the first year. I used two different doctors, both I would consider very good at what they do. I am really writing about this to show the failure of the AMS 700 CX implant. The implant deteriorated in less than 2 1/2 years.
My pump was not in a great place and I decided to get it moved. I had waited along time over two years to move it because I was hoping I would get more comfortable with the placement of the pump. I also was not ready for another surgery after having 3 in a year.
When the doctor went to move the pump he noticed an issue with one of my cylinders The outer coating was peeling off one of the cylinders and there was a hole developing in the material below. Just a matter of time before it sprung a leak. Not to mention that outer coating was degrading and floating around inside of me, my opinion. Below are picks of the failed/failing device. I don’t know if this is a one off issue or is something more common.
One more thing to consider when making a choice between AMS and Coloplast. I have had both.
5 days out from the last surgery. Very little bruising, swelling is going down almost gone. Dick looks great. Doc replaced the failing implant with the same product. I am 7 inches and not narrow and the AMS fills my cock out well. I ended up with AMS product because that is what the doc that did second revision thought would work best considering what I had going on at the time . Up and lower corporplasty both sides due to scaring.

Re: Revision#3 in 4 years
Currently I have the AMS CX,
The first implant was total 24 1/2 Titian. I was still in a lot of pain 8 months in and was having unwanted semi erections. Still really don’t know why it was happening. Doc gave me prescription that helped with the unwanted semi erections, but I could not tolerate the side effects of the medication.
First revision.
We decided to replace the unit with an AMS with a total 23 1/2 I think. Doc and a hard time getting the right side cylinder in, scar tissue or something. I had and upper right corporplasty done at that time to get right side in.
Second revision.
About 6 weeks after first revision the right side herniated and I developed a bulging spot at the base of my penis. It had to be fixed. I talked to my doc and I got a second opinion. I like the solution I got from the second opinion and went with the new doc. Both docs have great reputations. Had surgery about 6 weeks give or take later. This time Doc used an AMS CX as well. To get the implant in place I had upper and lower corporplasty on both sides of my penis. Recovery went well. The placement of the pump was not great. I decided to leave it alone because I was not ready for another surgery. 2 1/2 years later pump placement was still bothering me so I decided to get it moved. I thought move the pump, quick recovery.
3rd revision. When doc went in to replace the pump he found an issue with one of the cylinders. Coating coming off and material degrading. The cylinder was replaced and the pump was moved. No issues getting the cylinder in place. I am 5 days out from surgery. All things considered doing pretty good. Off pain meds and going back to work tomorrow. I sit most of the day no lifting.
Pretty disappointed with the AMS CX. I have not talked to the doc in detail yet. He made the decision to replace one side. I was under. I am sure he had a good reason. Will talk to him in a couple of weeks. The surgery was out patient, only planing to move pump.
Already missing the gym!!!!

Re: Revision#3 in 4 years
Oh man, that stinks. Let everyone know what your doc says about the implant. Bad material? Sloppy manufacturer work?
I have the Coloplast Titan, what my doc recommended. Close to 2 years out and no issues, thank goodness.

Please let us know what is determined about the, it looks like, delamination of the CX cylinder. As I have been implanted with the AMS 700 CX--I am very interested in the cause and how to diagnose the problem if it occurs.

Re: Revision#3 in 4 years
Thanks guys!
My current state is pretty good. 7 days out from surgery. I am not in any pain, or at least easily managed. I deflated this morning so I could go to work. I pumped it up this evening with docs permission. I think this is the best looking result I have had. The pump has been moved to a much better position.
I don’t know that I will get any information about the why the cylinder was coming apart. The doc that fixed this is a Titan guy. If I do I will certainly pass it along.
Thanks again for the encouragement.

I feel very luck that I have had good docs.
If anybody wants docs names private message me and I will give out their names.

I am in absolute disbelief at this. First time in years on FT that i see such a failure!? I wonder as well if it is a one off or something else worthy of a complaint to the manufacturer and their quality control?
Re: Revision#3 in 4 years
Never seen a cylinder peel off like the one shown on the picture. I have had two different. The first implant was an Ultrex 700 by AMS which lasted 15 years. Then I had the revision and I had a AMS 700 LGX with ms pump. Well that did not last very long the pump kept sticking and finally it just stopped working and that lasted ten months, so I had a second revision to replace the pump. But as it turned out when I come out of the anesthesia the specialists told me he found that the cylinders were not pulled into the gland far enough, so he pulled two new LGX cylinders I believe he said 21 cm 1rte. He done a fantastic job. I am very happy with his work. Two years now and it is working perfect, but I do not trust the MS pump because of what happened before. So I found out that if I leave it pumped with one or two pumps it works perfect every time. But I also notice that if I completely deflate it that it will stick at times and I have to press the release button a couple of times for it to set in. So I just leave it with two pumps all the time. The LGX work great giving me my full eight inch length.
