Medications cause ED

Postby oldbeek » Wed Sep 15, 2021 12:01 am

I have indigestion problems like many do. A doctor prescribed Regalan which is supposed to aid digestion. I started having negative emotional issues. The Dr then put me on Prozac. I was a mess. I went on a 30 day vacation with my wife. She knew I was sick because I didn't want sex. I didn't want to go on. I was advised to not be left alone. My wife booked a physc doc. He looked at my prescriptions I was taking. He noted depression was a bad side effect of Regalan. I stopped taking it and was IMMEDIATLY cured of my depression. This was 25 years ago but I just thought it should be mentioned.

Gabapentin (a.k.a. Neurontin) inhibits orgasm if you're over fifty or so, but doesn't cause ED.

After discovering this, I talked to a holistic pharmacist who said "Try the herb boswellia for your nerve pain." Well, it works better than Gabapentin ever did, all pain extinguished, and no side effects.

Age 79 in 2024. On testosterone replacement due to hypothalamus malfunction. (Attention depressed guys: low testosterone is a cause.) Healthy health nut but ED due to getting old. Like to keep enough cardiovascular ability to thrust for 30 min.

My Drs in the burn center told my mrs I would never be the same in the sex department, because of one reason, Gabapentin. Also made me stupid, and messed with my thinking, memory, etc. I weaned myself off of it, and still have nerve pains, but going forward I can do without it. I had ED, severe, no erections, no nocturnal erections. After weaning off of this drug, I started to have some erections, not good for sex, and limited nocturnal. Then this site, and the journey to have sex again began in Nov., of 2020. Everything I experimented with helped, TRT, VED, pills, rings, etc., mentors on this site, then trimix. Am also weaning off my blood pressure pills, with diet, exercise, etc. My uro told me they are a boner killer as well. Some member have changed their BP meds to other brands and have better success with erections.

I know that BP medications that contain HCTZ are major sources of ED. If a BP drug is necessary, Losartan is much more ED friendly (in trials, it did not cause ED, in fact, it seemed to help).

Every drug that a doctor can write off of his/her magic script pad has side effects. It's best to not blindly accept drugs without doing due diligence. The FDA has, over the years, approved some real train wreck drugs that do permanent harm.
64 years old. Had a heart attack with two stents placed at 46, atrial fibrillation surgery at 54 years. Doing great now, lost 45lbs on KETO, ED under control with tri-mix, 5mg daily Cialis, and arginine/citrulline 2x a day. And morning wood is back!

I had to take Citalopram (it's an SSRI) just for a few months and it permanently altered my premature ejaculation. It actually fixed it completely, to the point of going reverse. After that I had difficulties finishing, which I have to admit was happy about at the time as it allowed me to have hour long sessions with my GF. It's been seven years now and it is safe to say the changes are permanent.

Had I continued taking it for another few months it could've easily lead to a form of ED or something. Fortunately I was quick to discontinue it.

The people who make these drugs don't actually hide these potential side effects. It's all right there if guys would read the label or read the directions that come with the drugs, which admittedly few guys do.
