United States of Al ED episode

Postby happycamper59 » Mon Jan 10, 2022 12:03 pm

Did anyone catch the "United States of Al" episode that aired Jan. 6? The ex-Marine son had an ED episode with his new GF. If you did see it, what did you think of how they handled ED? I have a mixed review myself.
First, it is great that they tackled the issue. The show does tackle some tough issues now and then. I think I've only seen ED as part of a sitcom or movie plot in the form of jokes. The guy panicked in this show, and the GF handled it beautifully. We should all be so lucky, eh?
But, of course, as only part of the plot of a 21-minute show, not much can be said about ED. The ex-Marine father was the typical bravado "never happens to me" guy. I really wanted him to come clean and tell his son that it does happen to him, and it's biological and not always psychological. But no.
ED worsened over 25 years, likely VL. Went through pills and injections, and results faded over time. Implant AMS 700CX, 21 cm, no RTE, on 6/3/24.

I didn't see it, but it had to be handled better than Eric's ED on The Bold and the Beautiful.
They made out his to be all in his mind and missed a great opportunity to educate people.

I saw it and my impression was he had a single episode of psychological ED and it was over played and not properly explained.

I saw it also, but I'm reserving judgement until I see the next episode. I hope they continue with it being an issue to be addressed, and not just a fluke that happens to all guys once in a while.

By the way, I love that show!

I’m so tired of the dogma that ED is always psychogenic

I believe that's where they did a dis-service.
Such a great opportunity to educate men.
Oh wait, only women watch soaps lol.
