I heard a bluegrass song that was written to express a thought close to, but not exactlyl pertinent to ED, but the chorus sure does hit the nail on the head

"Enough steam to blow the whistle. but not enough to pull the train."

Written by Troy Pope along with Mark Brinkman, about that feeling when you just don't have what it takes to see something through.
