Six weeks and counting

First of all, I am very happy to find this group as I have been trying to deal with the anxiety and unsure situation concerning the implant. I am a 64 year old guy who has been dealing with ED since his early 40's. Not suffering any major medical situations that would bring this on. I've tried the oral drugs which worked for a while and then didn't. The migraines I got were terrible and they do nothing to cause an erection. About 8 or 9 years ago, I switched to injections which does do the trick somewhat but there is always pain at the site of injection and also throughout my groin for hours after. My urologist switched the mixture but I still have a good amount of pain and I am at the highest dose he can let me have. Running out of options, he strongly suggested I go to the implant stage which is now scheduled for mid-May.

A major problem I have is the size of my penis due to dealing with ED for so many years. It is much smaller than ever and my doctor has told me to use a vacuum pump to help with the scarring that has taken place. I use the pump daily but it definitely isn't something that I can use to deal with ED and I don't even know if it is working during this pre-op period.

I'm pretty much terrified of having this operation as I know no one who has had it and the problem of my penis in its current state worries me too. My urologist has told me not to worry but I can't help to think that it could be unsuccessful. Hopefully, there are guys like me out there who can share similar situations. I will do anything to overcome my ED problems and the strain it has put on my marriage for decades but I feel like if I hadn't had all the problems of the size of my penis leading up to this, I would be way more confident.

It's natural to feel nervous about the surgery. I was a wreck the night before mine. Anyway, ED plagued me for a good 15 years. Pills were ok at first, then failures and migraines. Injections worked for a couple of years then they began to fail. Increased dosage still had failures and then a sore penis for a day. I know over that length of time my penis shrunk. Since my implant my guess is I'm close to one inch shorter than in my prime. I've got more girth though, but the best thing is no matter when or where if the wife wants sex, I know I can get hard. And I believe that's the bottom line.
Just follow your surgeons' orders after. It will take some time to heal and learn how to use the implant. From there your confidence will increase and you can satisfy your wife all night long!

VED use now as outlined in the 2 papers and as pre your doctors instructions is important. The one paper shows marking the VED cylinder and shows the largest gains being during the first weeks. Many doctors do not recommend this and even some of the well known ones. But the thing is as the first paper shows ED does cause size loss.

I had size loss from years of ED and doing nothing about it. I used a VED and manual stretching for a little over 3 weeks prior to surgery and it helped. My doctor sized me aggressively. Maybe a bit on the long side for the LGX that expands in lenght as well as girth. But I am back now to just a little over 1/2" short of my healthy youth size. Not bad for 10 years of ED with no treatment. Of course we are all different and this is just my results. They do make narrow cylinders for men who have a lot of scaring or plaque built up. And there are doctors who can remove it. Seems to me your doctor believes the surgery will be successful as he scheduled you for this.

Keep up the VED work but be careful as too much vacuum or even low vacuum too quickly can case more damage and cause size loss.

I hope my experience can put your mind at ease. Looking back, I over thought and over researched this procedure. I was treated at the Mayo Clinic. All of the pre-procedure 'process' was about as complicated/involved as getting a vasectomy, if that is something you can relate to. I did not have all this measuring and injections to see if it was a venous leak or whatever. I gave her my history of ED--Viagra--Cialis--injections--Peyronies from injections and she recommended an implant. She just looked at the penis, stretched it out and said, I recommend a Coloplast Titan due to your size and your age.(60 years))

The pre-surgical preparation was easy and pleasant, though I admit I was very nervous as anyone would be. (I have had many small surgeries so I knew the drill, though I had never been in the hospital!) After the surgery, I had no pain, only discomfort, due to following the doctors instructions re medication and activity. I tapered off the hard stuff-drugs right away, like 3-4 days and used over the counter stuff. I had very little swelling or bruising of my penis. I had a scrotoplasty so my incision was large and that looked bad but healed fast and looks perfect now. The worse part was the semi erect penis for 3 weeks. Fortunately, I was retired and able to stay home the entire time relaxing. I had peyronies and my penis is perfectly straight now and the Titan restored more size than I remembered. (I have had some form of ED since I was married in my 20s)

The downside for me is that I have a loss of sensitivity in the penis, but some of that is age related. the 'Titan bulge' is a something of a problem when I swim each morning because my flaccid size is just under 6" and pretty firm, so is really noticeable in my swim brief when I come out of the water. I also fear having some failure in the implant as some here relate, but my doctor said she expects me to have this one until I am 90.

I can say the pills, pumps, patches, injections, and every other voodoo treatment - plagued me for 30 years. NOTHING worked regularly and afforded confidence.

I'm 50 y/o and had the implant about 18 months ago. AND I WISH I had explored the option(s) for this device 30 years ago!

It works. Ejaculation is uninterrupted/normal! Sensation - no change. Pre0p a breeze. PostOp - well, it was sore (not requiring narcotic sore - but lots of frozen peas sore). I rested a few days and took it easy. The semi inflation and wrapped penis was most sore until about day three in the office where the swelling started going down and the gauze and device deflated/removed.

I guess by day 7 I was able to have normal mobility and by week 3 - cycling on my own regularly and week 4 using the device without pain! I haven't stopped since .
