Noob Needing Tri-Mix Advice

I am a 79 yo, Caucasian male. I have prostate cancer under ‘active surveillance’.

Have had 3 biopsy and on Flomax. Been the route of Viagra, Levitra & Cialis until they quit working.

Uro started me on Single Strength: Tri-mix (papaver-phentol-pge1) 150 Mg-5 Mg-50 Mcg.

Took twice. 20 units… Then 30. Not much effect.
Then wife had unexpected surgery & we stopped sex.

4 months later: Wife ready to Go! Uro upped to ‘ Double Strength: Alprostadil 11.6 Mcg/ml, Papaverine 35.2 Mg/ml, Phentolamine 1.16 Mg/ml ‘ ??

Pharmacist suggested 10 units to start. Did so.. Quick so-so erection. Tried ‘oral’ which usually helps me too.. Noticed that lying down seemed to lessen my ‘firmness’. Stood up.. Partially came back..
Tried unsuccessfully to penetrate.

Two days later plan to up to 15 units. Suggestions?

Talk to your uro about increasing your units, and maybe your formula. This new strength isn’t double what you were using at first. The “150-5-50” is the same as 30-1-10, (everything divided by 5 because it’s a 5cc vial) . For this new vial, the uro just increased each drug slightly, definitely not double. Good luck

IMHO your proposed bump to 15 units seems reasonable.

Did your doctor teach you how to properly do the injections? A lot of guys have difficulty getting the injection technique perfected. There are numerous posts on the topic that can be found by reading older posts here in the "Injections" sub-forum. Many can provide suggestions and advice if you would like.

It sounds like you may have multiple caused of your ED. Did your doctor attempt to determine the cause?

I frequently recommend using novelty/sex shop cock rings. You sound like you might be a very good candidate for giving them a try. I can expound on the idea if you like.

His advice has helped me greatly............both with injections and with cock rings.

Dr. discussed and gave me info. I had researched a lot
before I even asked him about prescribing it.

I live 90 miles from my Uro so did not actually try it on me.
He told me to start 'low & slow'

Pharmacist, thankfully a guy, went into great detail on instructions..

Kind of a side note.. I've been struggling with a sinus infection so sex has not been on my mind. Went to the walk-in clinic yesterday & was given antibiotics plus a steroid shot. I didn't sleep well last night and woke up with a pretty strong 'chubby' a couple of times. Wondering if anyone else has this effect from steroids? Thinking one wouldn't want to do an injection after having a steroid shot? I'm sure scared of ending up in the ER. ??
