Had my implant done 3 days ago. Trying to stay positive

Postby kenny24017 » Sat May 14, 2022 9:24 am

I'm 48 and I've had trouble with e.d for 15-20 years. I would take up to 100mg. Of Viagra and it would sometimes help but side effects of not being able to sleep afterwards and acid reflux next day sucked. So I used it very little. I then tried Cialis but results weren't as good as was disappointed often using it . 2 years ago I noticed some hard areas forming in my penis. I went to a local urologist and he confirmed it was Peyronie's. He suggested xiaflex and we went down that road. I had 40-50% curvature to go along with a slight natural bend making sex very uncomfortable and difficult. I wish we hadn't done the xiaflex because it did nothing but cause pain and extra time. He basically said after the treatments they don't always work . I was sent to UVA medical center in VA couple hours from home. They went over all my options and we decided an implant would help the p.d. and my e.d. I was pleasantly shocked to find out my insurance immediately approved the implant procedure. I went in may 11 to have my implant done and some plaque incised. My Dr said that surgery went very well with no issues. I'm having hard time adjusting to a semi rigid penis and waiting for it to heal but I feel good about the entire process. I was concerned that the open hole where the drain kept leaking a lot but it has finally slowed down. I just wanted to share my experience so far and try to help if anyone has questions. Thanks for reading.

Congratulations on your implant, trying to get mine done this summer. Insurance said no to covering it. What insurance do you have?

I have Anthem insurance. The staff at UVA was even surprised they covered the procedure without any red tape. I guess I'm lucky for that. They told me when employers get coverage, they can pick what levels of treatment they want . Most choose not to cover things like this.

Good luck with your recovery. I had mine done at UVA on April 1. My recovery so far has gone really well and I'm getting used to the new feelings, etc. My doctor and all the staff at UVA have been great too work with. I just wish that my insurance had been better about covering it. I'm in an appeal right now and hope this will come out in my favor. They did pay for some of it so far but not the biggest chunk.

Just do what they tell you and I think you'll come out fine with a working penis that doesn't quit!

Let me know if I can help in any way.

good luck healing. Yes, if you were a grower, the new flaccid is hard to get used to. Where do we store this thing. :D

Thanks Brianroa7 and oldbeek. I'm starting to feel ok other than getting up or sitting down. Walking thru the house with my 9 year old here is tricky. Lol. Few people have asked what I had done. Best thing I have come up with is they corrected a blood flow issue. Haha

Glad you're up and doing well Kenny! Continued success and recovery and I hope it goes by quickly for you!

Best answer for nosy people that ask is " hernia operation". I'm scheduled for 05/17 and that's what I've been telling people already.

Stay safe and look to the future!!

When nosey people ask me I tell them about the implant. It's nothing to be ashamed of and I don't think this needs to be in the shadows anymore. It's just a health problem that needs to be taken care of. Ì don't bring it up, but when someone asks I'm not ashamed to tell them. It might make the word get out more about this procedure. Before my doctor brought it up, I didn't know it existed as a choice.

And yes some of those nosey people might think twice about asking for details!

But seriously, since I had cancer, I don't like to worry people about it coming back or something too.

Can you please explain this. I'm a grower, planning bionic early August. Will I feel the tubes after two or three months?

4 years later and it feels like 2 surgical tubes in my dick, Erect 6 inch . flaccid 5 1/2 inch. When sitting I usually wear it slanting up and to the right. The little access fly on my jocky shorts is not useable at all. Now it is, drop the pants and hang it over the top of the elastic.
