New Member Intro and hope for advice

Postby Martin25 » Mon May 30, 2022 9:52 pm

Hi,

I discovered this website recently and I’ve been reading through posts and decided to become a member. My ED has gotten progressively worse and I have not been able to have intercourse the past two years. The pills no longer work for me, nor did combining pills with a VED device…VED could get me erect but looked unnatural with veins bulging and penis ring constricting blood flow… I would’ve tolerated it, but it did not last for intercourse. Recently tried ‘Eddy by Eddie’, a novel take on the penis ring with an open bottom. Advertises as letting blood flow in but not out. Did not work for me, but I think it might be good for someone with mild ED…

2 1/2 weeks ago I saw a Dr. Eid Who said I could try daily 5mg cialis combined with injections (side note— I have found it extremely difficult to find a urologist who really specializes in ED, Reading about Dr. Eid in this forum led me to him)… I told the doctor that I had tried injections 2 1/2 years ago, but then the physician assistant of the urologist quit the practice and the pandemic hit and I never followed up. I was in the middle of increasing dosage and had not yet hit the maximum with Caverject. I found it very nerve-racking to give myself injections, I think I did it three times at home without getting fully erect…Dr Eid suggested the daily Cialis and said to come back in two weeks when he would try a sonogram and inject me to see the result.

He had mentioned me using Trimix, But when I came for the appointment he did not have any in the office and could only inject 10 mg of something else which did not produce enough of an erection (not sure why he did not try to inject me with another 10 mg, but I was too nervous to ask) . The sonogram showed good penile vein width, but poor blood flow. He said I could try 20 mg of the tri-mix, but I would have to get the prescription myself and bring it into the office since he could not get it (which I think is strange for a doctor)… I am really impressed with Dr. Eid, although I was disappointed that he was unable to inject me with what he was suggesting so I could see the effect in the office, and also be made more comfortable with possibly injecting myself. He thinks I am probably a candidate for an implant, but it is up to me if I want to try the injections first… I am doubtful they will work since the last place I went for a sonogram a year and a half ago gave me three injections and I still did not get fully erect, although I don’t know what they were injecting me with and what quantity. I know it was not tri mix… what do others think? I am very nervous about the surgery in that sensitive area, but it seems that if it works people are happy. Because it has been so bad the last two years I have lost my sex drive, yet I still have a woman I love and who loves me back, but I miss that intimacy… I am 61 years old.

Part of me thinks I should try to exhaust all other possibilities, but so far any experience I have had with injections has not been positive, and I don’t think I would really look forward to sex with having to inject myself first… any thoughts? Has anyone undergone something similar? Is anyone also considering an implant but is too nervous to take the plunge? Thank you all

I tried injections (alprostadil which is what you tried in Dr Eid's office, as well as trimix) and neither worked well for me. Also like you said it was pretty rough injecting my dick every time I wanted to have sex. If trimix worked amazingly well for me I would've stuck with that and not moved on to implant. Trimix did not work well so I got my implant done by Dr Eid a year ago in June 2021. It is awesome and you won't regret getting one, though I would definitely advise giving trimix a shot just to be confident that you tried every other option.

Hi Martin… I agree with some of the other post… Before making this permanent life changing decision you need to be confident that you have exhausted all options… Since you seem comfortable with Dr. Eid, I would call the office again and make another appointment and tell them that they did not have that medication that Dr. Eid wanted you to try and you would like to come in one more time for the complete work up meaning the ultrasound and the injection that Dr. Eid wanted you to try at home to try at the office. That way you get the ultrasound confirmation, you find out whether the injection will work or not though often times the injections don’t work in the office anyway because it’s not the proper environment for having a hard on. But, you will get a complete ultrasound and find out how much blood flow is in and how much blood flow is out do you have been a venous leak and so forth and Dr Eid then says implant is the best way to go then You can make that decision. Point of interest, I did go with a high implant surgeon as well but I did get a second opinion from another high implant surgeon and made the decision on who I wanted to go with based on the surgeon that I like best and the information provided. It might be worth your while And confidence to make an appointment with another high successful implant surgeon in your area and start over fresh and do all the work. A little more time wont hurt and it’s better that you feel 100% confident that you’re making the right decision! Good luck!

Thank you and everyone for giving me the impetus to give the injections one more try…I’m pretty sure I’ll be recommended for an implant, but exhausting other possibilities first will help buck me up…

Hi Martin,

I agree, exhaust all avenues before an implant. I also hated the thought of giving myself an injection and ultimately went years without and had a mental block to giving myself one. I found FT and learned about Auto Injectors which makes it so easy and nearly painless, and I reacted to Trimix and learned about Bimix which did not give me any ache. Not all Uro's know about an Auto injector, mine did not but at that point i had decided to drop him. If you went to Eid, are you in the tristate area? If so, Dr Werner of Maze (yes, the advertisement on the left banner of the website) was a huge help both teaching the method and later helping me to come to the realization that an Implant was next. Eid did my implant in December and the recovery was easy and I love the results. I kept my length but lost girth which he warned me about, as I was a thick boy, but trimix gel helped there!

The most important thing is you found this site and will learn a lot from everyone. Please keep us informed. PM me if you like as I am in NYC and volunteer show and tell for implant which helps to understand what your future could be.

Best

I came to this forum 2011, It was suggested then to try Trimix. Stubborn me decided to stick with Viagra, which more or less worked.

About three years ago my erections became weaker. I could still have sex with my wife, but was pretty much limited to a single position. My wife found boring and quite frustrating. As a result we had sex maybe about once a month.

Last fall I sought out a qualified urologist, took six months for a phone appointment that lasted less than 3 minutes, where I briefly told him what and why I wanted to try mix. Two months later he made an in-person appointment to show me how to inject.

I've now done half dozen injections, the first few injections were learning how and what to expect. For myself using Trimix is like I'm re-learning how to have sex ad what to expect, with an erection that last like energizer.... The last time I used it, my wife said wow.

I would encourage you to give it a try. It may take a bit of time to get the dosing down. But can well be worth the effort.
Age: 68. Struggled with ED/PE for years.
Used Viagra for 10+ years with mixed success.
In May 2022 started using Trimix with very good results.
Feb 2023 developed PD
2023 still in treatment for PD, and still using Trimix with very good results

This feedback is so helpful! I called the doctor’s office and was told that because trimix is a compound, it has to be special ordered from a place in NJ…I got a voicemail (I was working and missed the call) from Dr Eid’s receptionist that she placed an order…I’m going to call tomorrow to find out more details and the next step…looks like not covered by insurance?

Thank you for offer of private message; I may take you up on it soon :)

Martin25: Trimax and double strength Trimix did not work for me and I had either no success and/or uncomfortable reactions to pills. I used an Autoject for the injections and tried out several vials of Trimix- different strengths. I finally got ok with injecting myself but if I had any success, it didn't last long. Gave up on pills: Viagra, Levitra, Cialis including daily 5mg, but wasn't about to give up. Next up was VEDs and was able to achieve erection while using but went away immediately on reducing vacuum. I then tried various VED and ring combos with little success. Around that time I joined Frank Talk with it's wealth of information. I purchased and manually stretched an Erecaid ring on to a cheap VED. It was a bit difficult to accomplish, but it worked - erection lasted about 10 minutes so I knew I was making progress. The OsBon Erecaid rings worked because of the way they are designed to cut off blood from leaking out. I then splurged and bought the Erecaid Classic aystem.
The ring positioner made installing rings easy. I then read that you can use two rings and tried. Then experimented with different sizes and finally achieved the results I was looking for using a Beige D and Gray D. The wife did not like the feel of the rings so I used the same thin rubber shield over the rings that I used as a shield between by groin and the pump when vacuuming. Everything is good now. On date nights I prepare the VED with the rings installed in advance. After foreplay, it takes about 2 minutes to lube, pump and snap the rings oriented properly in place. The rings were small and I was concerned about removing them, but that was not difficult once the erection was gone and I was well lubricated - sometimes I have to manually pull on the rings to allow the blood to leak out. I'm careful to note the time as there is a half hour limit with rings and I also need to be careful that my scrotum is not sucked into the vacuum. I like the VED because I'm not needing to take anymore meds to my system than I already have to take. If I were younger, I would probably opt for an implant.

Yes Trimix comes from a compounding pharmacy. Insurance does not cover it.
Hope it works for you. I used it for a few years with an auto-inject pen.
