Implant Journey, surgery 06/22/2022
Re: Implant Journey, surgery 06/22/2022
Had the pre op today. No doctor, just anesthesiologist. They took blood and had me sign lots of papers. Anything I need to take with me to surgery besides loose fitting clothes? She couldn’t answer any questions, and getting through to my doctor is like placing a collect call to heaven…

Keep me posted on how it goes because I am in a similar boat. Lost ability to have an erection at end of 2019 due to uncontrolled diabetes. Pills don’t work. Did not go to urologist because my wife was dealing with terrible anxiety, depression and then cancer. Went into remission in 2020 but due to being immunocompromised passed from CV-19 last year. I am now finally ready to date but have ED. Have eye surgery in August and then getting ED fixed is the next barrier. I am 48.

I would bring some snacks with you. I waited in post op forever and they only had cookies. I was starving from the pre surgery fast.
52 year old man who has struggled with erections for years. Got implanted on May 27 after pills and injections stopped working.

If you can, just lay naked in bed for a few days. I put ice pack (wrapped in a towel) on my sack (penoscrotal surgery) for 30 min every other hour.
For me, I just walked around naked for a week as I WFH and did not have to leave for anything. Be sure to get everything you need before going under. Also my doc injected a blocker into my penis and sack and I was numb for a few days, so things settled a bit before a regained sensation.

34 yo, limited hand/finger dexterity. Tried vacuums, pills, TriMix, and Jelqs and nothing works. Implanted with AMS 700CX 21cm, Right 0.5 RTE by Dr. Clavell in Houston, TX on 5/12/21. Frenectomy 5/11/22 by Dr. Clavell.

MSchicago,
Sorry to read your story about your wife, that has to be tough! Not sure what it’s like in your neck of the woods, but it took like 6 or 7 months to get in to see my urologist about an implant. You might want to get on his schedule now. Also check with your insurance company about coverage, most cover atleast the lions share of the cost. I’ll be posting as things progress. I just wish I had done this sooner, atrophy is a proper bitch! And dating with ED is stress inducing to say the least, I couldn’t even get partial erections. Hope you have luck in your journey forward!

Turboplanet, thanks, I’ll do that. I’m supposed to have surgery at 0700, which means I’m supposed to arrive at 0600, and it’s an hour from home. Plus, they want me to take my morning medications, but has to be 2 hours before my arrival time, so I’ll be up and about at 0400 with nothing to eat or drink. I guess that’s better than having an operation at 1600 and having to fast all day long…
Sgarza07, hope I get a blocker as well. I assume that’s pretty standard, but I’ll ask, supposed to see my doctor before they wheel me in to surgery. My daughter doesn’t live with us, so being naked is no issue, and I’ve been teleworking since Covid. Is it possible to over ice? I’ve used an ice pack a few times in the past, but never as much as recommended because it was more uncomfortable than the pain I was in at the time. After watching some implant surgeries on YouTube, I’m guessing this one is gonna suck in the pain department…

Sharpes, ice, ice, ice. Use frozen corn or peas, they make great reusable leak free ice packs. Ice will be your friend and yes for a week you’ll be questioning your decision but trust me a week of pain is worth the outcome both physically and mentally. Before my implant I was totally deflated, pardon the pun. I have always been one to want to please my partner in bed. Not being able to even perform was brutal. After my implant I feel awesome both physically and mentally. Being able to fuck my wife until she can no longer prop herself up, watching her collapse in exhaustion is very fulfilling. Good luck with the surgery and if you have any questions just post them here that’s why we are all here. Or pm if you’d prefer.

Thanks for the kind note. It’s taken me about 9 months since my wife’s passing to feel good enough to date so absent ED that would be about now. But ED and some other minor health issues have stopped me in my tracks. I intend to use Dr. Levine in Chicago and will call for an appointment. I will check on insurance as well. If everything goes as planned, I am hoping he can fit me in for an October surgery. If not, will try for January as I have a much needed vacation to Costa Rica set up end of year and want to be either at least 8 weeks out from implant surgery before I go or hold it off until I return. Good luck!

You will like Dr. Levine. If I go the final route, he is who I will go with. Still trying to decide if that’s the route to go. There is another member on here and I spoke with him personally and he is extremely happy with his results. Good luck.

Time for another update. Received a call today, I need to be at the hospital at 0630 tomorrow. I also received a bill today. No idea if more bills will follow, but as of today:
Hospital Fee 4,978.02
Doctor Fee 1,683.25
Anesthesiologist 1,066.35
Total 7,727.62
My Portion 980.29
I’ll update again if more bills come in later. If I had k own I could do it this cheaply, I would have done it a decade ago!!!
I have United Healthcare, UMR, through the DOD. Dr. Is Terlecki, hospital is Lexington Medical Center, south of Winston Salem North Carolina.
