I also asked my doc (specifically calling out deadlifts and other powerlifting) and he said he didn't have any concerns. Not sure what sort of lifting you're talking about though. Since I think implants make you stick out a bit more, you might want to be careful with cleans as the bar whips past your crotch.
Haven't had anyone answer definitively about "heavy" weights...If anyone who is reading this does squats/deadlifts/bench in the 200-400lb range, got any experience to share?
I've been 5*5 of:
Deadlifts @ 400 lbs/180 kg
Bench press @245 lbs/110 kg
Barbell bent over rows @ 230 lbs/105 kg
Weighted chins @ 70 lbs/31.5 kg added weight
Weighted dips @ 80 lbs/36 kg added weight
Don't like heavy squats, so have been doing them for higher reps
12 reps at 310 lbs/140 kg.
"Heavy weights" is relative. Some guys warm up at my weights. But at least it is in the range you asked about.
I have had no problems at all. When I got back to lifting a couple of months after implant I remember deadlifts was the only issue. Took me another 1-2 months to feel comfortable with deadlifts vs squats. Which is strange, but maybe because I use heavier weight. Don't know.
Anyway, eventually all lifts feel ok, no problem at all.
Only issue, as someone mentioned, is lifts where you might bump the bar into your dick. Power cleans for example.
That can hurt. You need to make sure your technique is adjusted to avoid smashing in to your dick. At least in my case, it is bigger and a bit more sensitive for pokes than before...
