Please name the names of all surgeons involved in this mess. Obviously it makes sense to go to the very best ones. Just for interest sake, did you go to Dr. Eid as well, if not, why not?

Just calling out the big elephant in the room.

It seems there are a number of post lately that really shit on the idea of implants.

Getting my implant was one of the best decisions of my life, other than marrying the woman of my dreams.

How much money did you spent for 8 implants?
I had a trauma 2 years ago, caused me narrowing, dent and shortening. PRP injections three months ago=worse narrowing, and worse ED. Now I only have two choices: impotent or implant. Born in 1975, in a relationship with girlfriend fir 4 years

Well aren’t you special? I documented my journey as you’ve already read and I don’t really care if you personally believe me or not. Why in the world, would I make something like that up. And as an FYI, one of the cylinders herniated, from the latest (what I thought would be final implant) replacement by Dr. Milam.

Unfortunately, he retired and didn’t do the replacement I now have. However, he assured that the doctor who was taking over his practice learned under him, and was every bit as skilled. So I proceeded to have yet another replacement. This doc is a female, and she is fantastic. She stuck with AMS 700 series, but this one is a CX I believe. I didn’t want that one because I was sold on the idea of the LGX’s expandability feature. She refused another LGX and said it would be the CX or no surgery. So the CX it was.

I’ve had it for record time (for me) now, and I’m absolutely pleased with this one. Seems like I finally got a winner.

The VA paid for it.

I hear ya man. If the first guy makes a mess of things, it can be a very long journey to the end. If he (the first doc) had done things correctly, I wouldn’t have had such a saga.

No doubt that @SquadCaptain74 will think you made that up too. What a freaking jerk. No wonder I stay away from this place.

I’d have to go do some digging through my paper work to get all the names, I may or may not hassle with it. As far as Dr. Eid and if not why. Getting approval by the VA leaves you with very limited options. I did in fact attempt to get setup with Eid, but it would have all been out-of-pocket. The VA wouldn’t facilitate making that happen.

A good friend I met here on FrankTalk steered me to Dr. Milam, whom he knew very well. His implant was also done by him, and he even helped me navigate my way around Nashville once we (me, wife & daughter) got there. JackP was a great friend through all this, I spent a lot of time on the phone getting encouragement from Jack. He passed away some time ago. I think I made a post here regarding his passing at the time.

Anyway, I’m sure Eid would have been a great choice, but I have no regrets going to Vanderbilt & Dr. Milam’s office, or I should say Dr. Melissa R. Kaufman‘s office.

The last surgery was done in Dec. 2020 right after Christmas, by Melissa R. Kaufman, MD. She took over Dr. Milam’s practice. She was great, no nonsense and to the point. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone.

A winner in your wiener?
Congratulations on winning your marathon of an experience. And thank you for sharing your story. There is a lot of skepticism about the viability of revisions to an impant. Your story proves it is doable.
