Found FT the other day and was pleased to find such a straight-forward, informative site.
Been around for 73 years, COPD, high blood pressure, borderline diabetes. ED has been ongoing for almost 10 years. Trying Testosterone injections with varying results, from none to mediocre.
I plan on doing extensive reading and will ask questions if I have any.
Anyone know of a uro in the Phoenix area?
Thanks to all for the great information.

Use the advanced search function and search for "Phoenix" and you will find at least one, and maybe more.
I'm most familiar with implant docs, but at least for those, many of the top notch ones have affiliations with major teaching hospitals. Another approach is to check the teaching hospitals or other large hospitals and scan their list of uros to see which ones list ED as a special area of interest.

Erik Castle, MD, at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. He's been very good with me.

Re: New Guy
New Guy,
Welcome to this site. A tremendous amount of information is available from guys with all different types of experiences. I just joined this site several weeks ago because I wanted to be able to communicate with other guys who have had successful implant surgeries. I have discovered one thing about us men and implant surgery....the subject usually gets around to size and the changes that happen with IPP surgery. Read their stories and you will come away with a much greater understanding of the experience.
Now about your Phoenix urologist question. I am going to have implant surgery on July 9 at Chandler Regional Medical Center in Chandler. Although I had other choices of hospitals (Scottsdale, Mercy Gilbert) I chose Chandler Regional Medical Center because my urologist does 95% of his implants there. My regular urologist suggested implant surgery after my dealing with ED since 1998 and having used all the other methods of trying to create a lasting erection including oral meds (Viagra, Cialis, Levitra) MUSE (a penile suppository), Vacuum Therapy and Tri-Mix penis injections. He said that although he could perform the surgery and I would be very satisfied with his work, he recommended his practice partner, Dr. Desiderio Avila Jr., who does many more implants then he does. They are part of the Ironwood Urology Group.
After meeting with Dr. Avila and reviewing many videos on the internet and reading many papers written by the leading experts in the field (Dr. Eid, Dr. Garber, Dr. Kramer, Dr. Karpman. Dr Camarron and Dr. Perito). Dr. Avila answered all my (many) questions satisfactorily and we decided this past Monday that I should move ahead with this surgery. Baring any complications, I will have an AMS700LGX implanted via peno-scrotal incision. Since I have had 6 inguinal hernia repairs, Dr. Avila may need to implant the reservoir through an intra-abdominal incision. The doctor will inflate the cylinders about 80% during surgery I will stay in the recovery area overnight with my “bionic” erection. My catheter will be removed early on the 10th by a nurse. Dr. Avila will stop by in the morning also to deflate the cylinders before I go home.
I really like the way Dr. Avila interacts with patients. He is easy to talk to and his patients clearly have had great experiences with him. By the way, Dr. Avila was a classmate and trained with Dr. Karpman. My regular urologist was trained by Dr. Eid in New York but he now focuses on cancer and robotic surgeries which is why he transferred me to his practice partner.
Dr. Avila’s office is in Phoenix (Chandler Ave. and 48th. Street) Let me know if I can be of any additional help. I am not a “bionic man” yet but I have spent the last several months researching this procedure so now I “impatiently” wait until July 9 to experience it.

64 years old. Struggling with ED for 15 years. Had AMS MS 700LGX implanted Tuesday, 07/09/13. New prosthesis implanted on Tuesday, 08/05/13 due to infection. Both implant surgeries done by Dr. Desiderio Avila Jr., Ironwood Urology, Phoenix, AZ.
Re: New Guy
Thank you spartan and chandlerman.....
I am in the west valley, but will see if your guys are on my insurance and have offices closer to my location.
Chandlerman... I had read what you had posted elsewhere so I was a little familiar about your situation. Will keep some positive thoughts about your surgery and know all will be fine.
I agree about the information available here at FrankTalk. I have done a lot of reading the last week. Even though I have most likely had ED for 12-15 years, my doctors were not very forth coming with ideas or information. "Let me give you the blue pill to try." I have been doing testosterone injections for awhile, but need to find a good doc in this area.
This site has made me aware of what is available for those of us with ED.
Thanks to all who share on this site....
