implant and sensitivity

Postby whatisthislife » Fri Oct 07, 2022 8:10 pm

I was reading the forums recently and I read a user say that an implant may result in a reduction in sensitivity of 10 to 15%. this really worries me as due to my nervous system damage I already have significantly reduced sensation and another degree of loss would be devastating. I have some degree of function left, although its not satisfactory but I can usually ejaculate albeit at like 50 or 60% hardness. the thought of trading off getting that full hardness but an inability to orgasm is very scary. are there any factors that contribute to a likely loss of sensitivity (i.e. the surgical approach or any pre surgery anatomy? what are your experiences with the return of sensitivity given you had an initial change?

According to this paper comparing the penoscrotal surgery approach to the infrapubic approach, "The penoscrotal approach avoids possible injury to the dorsal sensory nerves"

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/14551592/

So look for a surgeon skilled in the penoscrotal approach of you want to minimize chance of nerve damage and thus loss of sensitivity.

Dr Eid, who I consider the king of all implant surgeons, chooses the penoscrotal approach

I had infrapubic method about 6 months ago. Can't complain in what he put in. Slightly longer and a .6 thicker. But i have lost some sensation. What's crazy is the climax's are off the charts, but he did injure me. Diff urologist said if i ever get it redone it'll be the scrotal method, so yow id go the latter rt to avoid any more injury.

I hear your concern.

My doctor used the penoscrotal approach, and I did lose some sensitivity. For me, I like it because it means I last longer before I come than I did before the implant.

And I agree with markwal6 that my orgasms are more intense now than before I got the implant.

I wish I had more of an answer for your concerns. I think it's definitely a question you should ask the surgeon.

For me my first couple surgeries I didn’t have any issue but right after the last surgery I had some sensitivity issues. Now that it has been almost a year since the last surgery I am back to normal. I have had both penoscrotal and infrapubic and didn’t notice a difference when it comes to sensitivity. I am like several other posters that my partner appreciated the fact it took me a little longer to orgasm.

I have been wearing the Manhood penis cover out of Canada for about 6 weeks. I have noticed a significant improvement in glans sensitivity over this time. I think the product was designed for foreskin restoration which I am not interested in. It helps prevent the continued abrasiveness of clothing on the glans.

Looks like the Manhood has possibilities. But as near as I can tell, you have to remove it to pee? Don't know how diligent I would be if that is the case.

Yes, the Manhood has to be removed to pee. An inconvenience but becomes routine. There is a about an 8 or 9 inch ribbon sewn to it so it doesn't fall off and out of your pants. I pin the ribbon with a safety pin and it stays handy for the time I'm urinating.

Implanted on June 1st and my sensitivity has changed through the healing process.

Within 5 days of my implant I could check off and cum no problem.

2 months post-op and I was struggling to have an orgasm. Probably only had it about 50% of the time.

4 months post-op now and it seems like sensitivity has improved and I'm able to have an orgasm 95% of the time.

I've started taking 20 mg of Cialis and that seems to help but is it necessarily mandatory. I can still reach a climax without taking Cialis.

The lack of sensitivity seems to improve with time

Mine was Infrapubic and my sensitivity improved. Especially on the bottom side of the head and shaft. I’ve always taken a while to cum from getting head prior to the implant. At week 2 my GF was overjoyed that it only took 5 minutes to get the job done. The orgasm was also excellent.

I see people all over the board on sensitivity. Wonder why.
