Interesting...my catheter didn't hurt at all, and when I pulled it out the next day, there was no pain at all.

Also interesting...kinda assumed it'd be the same for others, but I do self-cath several times every day so my dick is maybe sensitive to that or something.

My first thought was trying to stay awake as I just wanted to go back to sleep SOOOO BADDD. Then the doc came in and I was afraid she had bad news cause her face looked odd...but she told me it went flawless and all was great. Then I was happy.

Also, my catheter was not in my dick but on my like side front of my bladder area. Thankfully not in pee hole as that would have been insane. No thanks...
Had to pee a lot like every ten minutes for about 2 hours. That sucked.

First thought on my mind waking up from surgery is what the hell is all this stuff doing on my dick? Felt like it was wrapped like a mummy, which it was. The catheter and drain bag hanging on made me feel like someone had tied me to the bed from my penis and sack.
Then I heard doc and my wife talking. I was still dazed but came around in a few minutes. Then my thought was what time is it, how long have I been out?

Why do you do the catheterization several times a day?

I guess I am a fortunate one, I had no pain at all, some discomfort from the catheter and where the reservoir was inserted, but not pain. My doctor prescribed "Pain meds as needed" so they had me alternating every 4 hours between Oxycodone and 1,000 mg of Tylenol, which was very effective. If I had any sensation of pain developing, I could have another unscheduled Oxycodone, I only had to do that once. If I was to do it again in pre-op I would make certain my doctor prescribed "Pain meds as needed."

As I have gotten older it seems like the time just flies by, I kept thinking in the recovery room, "I just want the next 6 weeks to fly by!" so all the recovery is behind me.

I think my recovery has been ideal, it is much better than I expected after reading tons of posts here from others who went ahead of me. I took my prescribed meds and kept up the hospital's pain management protocol for 3 days, I laid flat for two days which I think helped the swelling.

My advice is just go with the flow, you selected a great surgeon, just submit to him and let him perform his magic. Don't worry about losing length or any nonsense like that, just concentrate on healing then cycling as recommended.

Had traumatic brain injury October 2014. Diagnosed with neurogenic bladder, which I think basically means my brain and my bladder don't communicate very well. When I pee naturally I'm leaving lots of residual urine behind, so I cath before work/gym/sleep etc. etc.

If anyone is interested in major doctor fuck up stories then I think I've got a pretty good one about this. Post-TBI I get this primary care doctor summer 2015. I complained of problems urinating many different times to him, and every single time he prescribed some medicine for it. It didn't work well, so he prescribed another. And another. I also once quit caffeine and thought I solved the problem, but looking back it was still serious and I think I just didn't realize it, assumed it's totally common to pee every 30 minutes before bedtime. In 2018 I'm talking with this social worker lady, she asks to see some of my medical records. On the 2nd damn page right after info about my brain injury there's a list of my conditions and one says "neurogenic bladder."

For over four years I peed like 10 to 20 times or more almost every single day, and over those four years I told my doctor about my problems many different times. He didn't figure out the fucking obvious: an incredibly common problem post-brain injuries is about urination. And it's diagnosed in my fucking records.

Finally he refers me to a urologist like he should have years ago, they run the proper tests spring 2018, I get an Interstim implanted. It helps a bunch but it's not perfect.

My message to him:

His reply? "Ah well maybe, let's try a different fucking pill!!!!"

Fuck you Dr. Clark.

I was pissed that the doc couldn't fit in the 24 cm that he said he might could have lol. Honestly, I was relieved that all went well and couldn't believe I went through all of that. It was extremely surreal. I still can't believe its real.

Same here. I woke up from the surgery feeling surprisingly good, actually. Then I felt really good when my doctor stopped by and said the surgery couldn’t have gone better. No peyronie’s, no fibrosis, no complications. I felt relieved, thrilled to have taken the bull by the horns, and thankful to have a doctor who truly wanted to make my life better. I didn’t need more than Tylenol/ibuprofen for pain relief, but I’m not going to lie…there were some “grit your teeth, push through this, and tell yourself how good this will ultimately be” moments in the first three weeks of my recovery. I was cleared to cycle and use the implant without restrictions at three weeks, but only now am I pretty much without soreness. And it will be two months since implantation this coming Tuesday. Without a thought, I would do this again. My only recommendation , as many others have said, is find the best surgeon you can, preferably at a Center of Excellence and then trust them and do what they say. I came out of this with virtually no change in size and a whole lot more sensitivity. Feeling blessed!
