If I can get hard, why do I have ED?

Postby sirgawain » Sun Oct 16, 2022 10:45 am

I wake up hard. I can get hard during some moments. However, I can't rely on it, and it often can't stay around long enough to finish...meaning, I could maybe have intercourse, but I for certain will lose the erection before I can finish.

So then I started Trimix, which guaranteed I could. But no urologist could really help me understand why I can't keep a reliable erection. Is it physical? Is it a mental issue that is compounding on itself? Can I fix it, or am I going to be using trimix for the rest of time now?

These are the things that sit in my head.
57 years old, artificial heart valve. TRT started May, 2020. ED/libido issues never fixed by TRT. Not super responsive to viagra/cialis. Started Trimix 2/2021. 20/7.5/.25 mix.

In my non-medical opinion, it sounds as if you may have veinous leak. I had the same issue and was finally diagnosed by a Uro with a dopler exam. A test might be the next step for you.

I’m in the same situation. I have plenty of erections throughout the day and night but it’s never enough when i need it to be. Uro didn’t even bring up any kind of leak or problem for that matter. Just prescribed trimix. Trimix works great for me at this stage. Started in February amd still going strong. I’ve tried multiple times to have sex without it but its a no go.

My urologist said if trimix works, it's not a leak. So he wouldn't even scan it at all.

All I can say is that was not my experience or understanding. With a diagnosed veinous leak, Trimix overcame the leak for quite a while.FWIW.

The definition of ED according to May Clinic
Erectile dysfunction (impotence) is the inability to get and keep an erection firm enough for sex.

Previous to using Trimix I thought I was doing ok, I could take a viagra, get hard enough for sex.
The problem is I could only do one position because of weak erections and last only a few minutes before I would either come or lose my erection.

Using Trimix changed everything, Hard in 10-15 minutes and last well past the sex act.
Since using Trimix I asked my wife who has had other partners about my new erections. She said these are normal.

Like many I never had a formal diagnosis. But I suspect my ED, is partially VL, psychological, and having PE (premature ejaculation, minute man) which in itself is likely a result of ED.
Age: 68. Struggled with ED/PE for years.
Used Viagra for 10+ years with mixed success.
In May 2022 started using Trimix with very good results.
Feb 2023 developed PD
2023 still in treatment for PD, and still using Trimix with very good results

Trimix is a vasodilator. It works by opening up the arteries that provide blood to inflate your tunica albuginea in your penis to make an erection (blowing up the baloon). The way any vasodilator works is to make enough blood flow INto a man's penis to overwhelm the blood outlow (excessive outflow is the result of venous leakage).

If your urologist does not understand that rather simple and wellknown medical fact, you might consider consulting another urologist, One who specializes in male sexual function.

Non medical here but Trimix sometimes worked but took more and more. Went to 3 urologists. All did the tests and said veinous leak so Trimix can overcome the leak but only to a point and only for so long as the leak worsens
