Anrnee, just something to think about. If this is "one of the worst infections hes seen". I'd be nervous. Statistically the infection rate is pretty low. If hes seen very many infections & has not performed a large number of implants? I'd take that as very bad sign.
I don't think you've mentioned your doctors name either. I would suggest that you should look for a different doctor. At the very least. Verify his experience again.
Edit: My bad, looking at your post history I see that you have mentioned your doctors name.

Great Advice. I have a good relationship with this doc. I vetted his training and he is high volume. This is also a very important surgery and I do believe in second opinions. I’m in the process of setting up a consult with another urologist in Atlanta who is held in high regard to decide my next move.
I appreciate the advice!

Was he able to remove the reservoir too? Is there anyway to figure out where the infection came from so he can avoid it in the next surgery (if you were to have it)? How easy is it to push down the malleable? I can't see how it can be rigid and easy to hold down at the same time.
Hope you feel better soon!
Re: Test driving a Coloplast Malleable 1 piece
He took everything out including the reservoir. I’m not sure how to figure where the infection came in. I’m researching other doctors. I’m lucky enough to be in Atlanta so I have great options.
I haven’t bent it yet. Doc recommended due to the past trauma to wait a few more days. I’m curious also because it is very rigid. I can say for sure that there’s no hiding it the way it is so I’ll have to bend it sooner then latter.

Nuance: I've read many claims that many infections are bacteria that was already present on the patient's body.
Many surgeons have protocols for cleanliness they want you to follow for a few days prior to surgery. One member soaked in a bath with bleach mixed in the water. I don't recall if it was his own idea or if it was recommended by his doctor. Frequently a special soap is suggested to use in the general surgery area for a few days prior to surgery.
Bottom line, there are some strategies that you can do to help your infection risk. It is really to your best interest to ask your surgeon what he recommends.
To the best of my knowledge, the "one touch" surgical procedure has really helped to lower the infection risk.
Finally, I can not vouch for the facts behind this. There was a persistent rumor that the reason a large successful hospital in my area was demolished & rebuilt was that it had some bacterial infestation that they could never eradicate. I would hesitate to believe this but that same organization runs several hospitals that are of the same vintage as the demolished one that are still open.

Re: Test driving a Coloplast Malleable 1 piece
I was instructed to use hibiclens several days prior to the surgery. I worry that the warm baths I took after the first surgery, although not before the time I was as allowed, may have invited bacteria, but I’ve been second guessing everything. I definitely did not rest like I should have. I felt great with almost no pain. I have very little pain now but I am committed to doing nothing for the first week. I’m almost out of things to watch on Netflix.
I read about the no touch surgery and read one article that provided a lot of information on it

I’m being as careful as possible with this recovery. I appreciate the insight.
I plan on going the full 4 weeks with no sexual activity and also plan on consulting other surgeons if I decide to go through this again.

Sometimes there are bad doctors who aren't following sterile technique well enough and have higher infection rates, sometimes infection is just a crap shoot as to who is going to get it.

That’s just it. I can guess all day at it but in the end I just drew the short straw. We are still treating it to make sure it’s out of my system. 14 days of bactrim. Luckily I tolerate it well.

Still a bit swollen but not bad at all.
As far as size- pre implant using tri-mix 6.9 length and 6.4 girth
After Titan - 6.7 length and 6.3 girth (never got a chance to cycle the size back)
After genesis malleable - length 6.4 and girth surprisingly at 6.3
Overall, I’m pleased with the results. The girls I’m with like girth so I’m thankful I kept a lot of it.

Sounds like your doc did a great job in terms of sizing.
