I did not find having an implant installed to be much of a hassle. Operating it is easy and not a hassle either.

I can’t speak for everyone. Perhaps I just have some sort of warped psyche. But even if I (God forbid) were to lose my wife, and never were to have the opportunity to have sex again, I would still be glad I’m implanted. And if it failed, I’d probably have a replacement installed.

The ability to have an erection is intertwined with societal views on what it means to be male. Since I have been implanted, I have felt a huge sense of relief that I am capable of achieving and maintaining near-normal erections. I don’t think of them (the erections) as artificial. I tend to view them as medically assisted.

I know some guys experience complications and nine kinds of hell. The other side of that coin is a great many of us experience something pretty much similar to a hernia repair and everyone lives happily ever after.

Yes. It is worth the hassle.
If you are not married or in a relation, it is optional. But imagine a married couple who sleeps next to each other every single night. How do you feel when you are touching a woman's body, aroused, and knowing that you are not able to have sex? And worse, how does she feel? A wife sleeping next to her husband and unable to have normal sex life even once a month! You will just keep on fighting all day and night, because of the bad mood you are both in.

Words cannot describe how worth it this surgery way. Maybe it’s because I’m still in my 30s and single or maybe it was affecting every aspect of my life for a decade. WORTH IT

Life is not all about sex. In fact, the average male in his 40's has only 1,33 times sex a week, which last appr. about 15 minutes a session. I know, you, the Frank talk member is not the Joe Average and has at least 6 hot long sessions a week, with 7 seven different girls.

But imagine you are the Joe Average or just an average single Bro who is lucky if he even has once in a while a hook up. Is it worth the hassle?

With hassle i mean, the recovery, the costs, replacements, problems with clothes, walking with a semi-erect, embarrassing moments, etc.

Just wondering how you guys things about this perspective.

Not so fast. sgtrimza501. Long-term diabetics can be as healthy as non-diabetics IF THEY ARE WELL-CONTROLLED.

The damage that occurs to tissues, organs, blood vessels, etc is due to high blood glucose and high insulin levels, etc. They work with other enzymes to damage our bodies. But, even type 1 diabetics can live long, otherwise healthy lives if they kee their diabetes (blood glucose, mainly) well-controlled.

Problem is that it is difficult to achieve the hormonal balance of being well-controlled. Lots of work and lots of attention. But it is doable.

High blood sugar damages blood vessels (large ones and small capillaries, all) damage like that makes healing take longer. (By the way, smoking constricts blood vessels, too, and makes healing more difficult). Such blood vessel damage also causes ED. Take a hint, everyone.

Sure the surgery hurts. But the pain is not unbeatable. Having my wisdom teeth out was about equal. My kidney stones were worse.

I'm a long term diabetic and I have no idea of what you mean by unbearable pain. I love my implant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No unusual pain, in fact I healed quickly and the pain was short lived (first few weeks).

As previously said, if you are Diabetic keep your A1C under 7 and all is pretty normal.

I agree on the under 7 A1C. My doctor throws another diabetic caution into the mix. He wanted to me to do the best that I could the few days before surgery. He claimed that avoiding glucose spikes just prior to surgery is important. True that the A1C average is important. But in that average can be days of high glucose that average out in the A1C test. He prefers that his patients avoid any spikes if at all possible.
Just another data point for us diabetics to consider.
