Didn’t last a year
Re: Didn’t last a year
To date, what has been the response from Clavell? Have you gotten any information from his billing section on insurance?
Re: Didn’t last a year
Sorry about this. That's bad.
Sure hope you can get things figured out, the doc can fix you, and cost is zip.

Clavell did the initial with a titan xl.
I always felt like this thing was fragile
We don’t know where the failure is, but I was crippled with abdominal pain for about 20 minutes last night after work and had no idea what was causing it…a couple hours later I discovered the failure
Just before the pain, what was your degree of inflation?
Not that it matters much. It seems pretty clear a blowout occurred (rather than just an internal leak that might be able to be fixed without removal of the implant).

Zip does not seem to be one of the prices I’ve been quoted

Craigo we appreciate you sharing your experience with us so we all can learn from it so the questions we ask are well intended. Was the implant covered by insurance and will they cover the revison or were you self pay?
The $5k for revision is that your insurance max out of pocket amount?

The initial surgery was $20k self pay
The revision is looking like self pay as well. My insurance wanted me to exhaust everything else before I could get a pump. I self medicated for years(way too many pills) and had little success

Re: Didn’t last a year
With 5K being the price quoted for the replacement I would guess that the charge is just for the medical facility. My self pay was 24k with three checks. One for the device, one for the facility, and one for the doctor. They were all aprox. 8k each. Looks like the device is not being charged and neither is the doctor. I hope you can use the preexisting condition part of your insurance to pay for that.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Hi Craig,
Sorry to hear mate...
When you do go for your revision, are you able to find out where the implant failed? And why so early?

I didn’t really have a discussion with the doc about the initial implant and he doesn’t really give much now that it stopped working. I’m not sure I’ll learn everything…why would a doctor ever disclose anything but a product malfunction?
