If I was to get an implant privately in the UK and there was a complication - infection etc, would this still need to be rectified privately or could it potentially go through the NHS.
Just trying to get my head around the process
Implant in the UK
Re: Implant in the UK
No the nhs would take care of it. I asked Ralph the exact same question . In the end I had it done on nhs. Had to wait 6 months .

Was it Ralph that did it through the NHS?
Re: Implant in the UK
Yes Ralph and one of his registrars . Worked out great. Follow up at 3 weeks where I was shown how to inflate deflate , check ups at every 2 months . I really wish I had done it sooner. Wife loves it .

Re: Implant in the UK
Hi there. I’m from the uk also
I’m after some information too on this
Is there any way that the NHS would cover me for this operation if I ended up wanting it doing?
I’m going to give daily cialis a go and try to force my self to date ( scared of sex due to Ed )
This sounds silly but part of life I suppose, I’m desperate for a new car but don’t want to in case I will need to pay for this surgery
So if I bought a new car then needed the surgery I wouldn’t have to funds to get it done
So really not sure what to do
I think I’m going to go and see dr Ralph and pay for a private consultation

Re: Implant in the UK
The NHS have provided the surgery to people on this forum, I've even read posts from people that have said they had the surgery done by Ralph, through the NHS. I'm not sure on the process of making this happen though, I think there would be a waiting list for the NHS route, I'm not sure how long that would be.
Hopefully someone can give us more information

I'm following. To be honest i might need to use the NHS too.
If the waiting list was only 6 months it would not be too bad.
Which member had the surgery done through NHS?
Would love to speak to him

Re: Implant in the UK
I had the operation carried out on the NHS under Professor Ralph in Sept 2022 and I cannot fault the the whole process. I had to wait 9 months on the NHS and the waiting time could maybe longer now and would have gone privately if it had been in any longer. Absolutely no regrets and just getting used to my new toy. So far so good and getting better week by week. If I have to have a revision (due to a faulty implant) I will go private for the sake of speed though and the pump is under guarantee so I would be charged for the operation I have been told. I had the Colorplast Titan One Touch installed and just wish I had done it sooner hadn't wasted the the last 6 years since my RP operation.
Sorry JH1982 meant to say I am happy to speak to you. Just send me PM.

Before you have it done on nhs you have to have explored all pills, muse and injections. Then they will put you on the list.
Trouble is the wait between seeing the urologist each time is about 2 months.
Go private and try the others then get your urologist to refer you to Ralph on nhs.

The problem is that i cannot try medications.
They all have a small risk of interfering with the eye and i had 2 retinal detachments...
Not sure if the NHS will give a damn or they will just want me to take the risk of drugs on my shoulders before doing the surgery?
