Easy solution: pump daily until you don't need the ring :D

You sure about that? I don't think you're supposed to use any of the rings. My patient liaison at Boston Scientific wrote this in an email to me:
If you do utilize a VED, we recommend that you do not utilize the constriction band that comes with it, it will damage your device.

When I first started using the VED after my implant I had the same problem with the discomfort and pain. I have two sizes of VEDS . One has a 2 inch base and the other has a 2.5 inch base with a ring for it. My smaller tube would put to much pressure on the tubes, so I tried the larger tube with the ring and have no problem with pain.

What happens is when you insert your shaft into the ring (use a lot of lube) the ring expands and doesn't put so much pressure on the tubes of your implant. It works for me. I do it both half way inflated and fully inflated. Love the results.

Just be carful, if it hurts then don't do it.
