Underwear after implant

Is it really necessary to change the type of underwear your wear after an implant? Is it not practical to just buy a size up to accommodate for the larger flaccid? How uncomfortable does it get?

My experience is that it is necessary, especially in the initial 3 or 4 weeks after surgery. You want to be as comfortable as possible as your body adjusts.

On Wednesday, I will be three weeks post-op, and I am starting to feel normal again.

Not necessary. But I opine that after surgery, a man simply starts paying more attention to his reconstructed genitalia and thus, more attention to what he wears in that area.

It is logical.

Most men, as children, have theirclothes bought by their mothers. They put no thought into those choices. Eventually, rote becomes habit. Sometimes the habits change (e.g. military-issued clothes in boot camp). One just "goes with the flow" until some event changes his mind. Some have a relationship with a significant other who expresses a preference in what she (or he) likes to be worn. Sometimes a man just wants to be more comfortable or to enhance some self-image. But most often, (again, my opinion) he just sticks with his habits and the familiar.

Then, surgery (a major event) makes a big change in what he is paying attention to. So more thought is put into underwear choices and the effort to maximize comfort or practicality gets raised in importace in the decision-making. A whole new world of underwear choices he never even knew about is found.

I know I pay more attention to what underwear I wear than I did before my implant (and I did not ignore it as much before-as I suggested most men do). I wore briefs of the same style my Mom bought until I entered the military wherein I was issued plain cotton boxers. I found them uncomfortable, preferring more supportive underclothes. (Boxer-briefs had not yet entered the marketplace.) After the military, the women I have had relationships have influenced some of my choices. If my partner likes me in particular clothes, i see no reason to deny her that visual pleasure as long as I feel comfortable. I have experimented a bit with my underwear at the behest of girlfriends and in my search for support, comfort, sexy appearance and economy.

Right now, I find most comfortable anything that pulls my testicles forward (keeps me from sitting on them and the pump) and holds my penis pointed up and flat against my belly. Keeps things "organized".

Personally, I'm just used to the Separatec underwear. Especially being now a shower and not a grower. And, why go back?

I changed from briefs to boxer briefs, mainly because after the implant I hung out of the briefs. I find the boxer briefs give a bit of comfortable snugness to hold things in place. For the first couple of months while healing I did find satin briefs were nice for sleeping.

While I was a "grower" before implant and my flaccid is now larger than before, not all that much (I have an LGX, which is the best of the bunch in that regard, CX and Coloplast TItan users may have a less convenient experience). My full erect size is the same as before at 6 inches.

My body mass index is 26, so not skinny. That helps.

If I carried a concealed handgun in an inside-the-belt holster, my wardrobe choices would be somewhat limited, but my concealed penis does not present very much difficulty at all.
