Maybe not many have reached the maximum yet, but there most be several people on this forum, who have already had 1-3 revisions. How was the outcome?
The persons would have to be on their last ride and their doctors would have made them aware of it.

Not all Doctors are that candid with their patients, sadly. Keeping a two-way communication line open with your Doctor(s) is essential for good medical care. Ask questions.

You should not be disappointed. Multiple revisions is hard on a patient, but the alternative (continued ED/Impotence) is not a better alternative, is it? You play the cards you are dealt and make the best of what life has handed you.

I've never read of a man reaching the point of not being able to get an implant. You & I both have read posts from men with multiple revisions. You can't get a revision without getting your first implant.
Why are you letting your fear of running out of implants bother you? The best that I can tell you haven't even had your first one. It sure looks like you're pretty safe.
Why all the "what if" worries?

I also wonder if it’s harder for a MtF trans patient to receive multiple revisions because wear and tear is worse for them.

From what little I know about transsexual surgery, MtF transsexuals (Male to Female) would not have a penile implant at all.

Color me confused?

Did you mean FtM?

Ops yes I meant FtM.

If after multiple failures, you decide to give up on it, is it even possible to not have an implant? penis would be severely deformed, can you even pee? My biggest fear is ending up with amputation and such and not even being able to pee.

Not a lot of data points on what it's like if the implant is removed, but this guy on Reddit had his removed last August (1 year ago) and as of 3 months ago he says he has had no problems urinating

1 year is a long time, I wonder if holes don't try to close up making subsequent procedure more difficulty. I also noticed with revisions, the surgeon tries to change the position of the reservoir. Does anyone know why? Is it really that hard to take it out and put back the new one in the same place? Is anyone willing to share pics of what it looks like when implant is removed?

appreciate all the information and help forum members offer.

One research study stratified infection rates based on the number of prior surgeries. Should we consider capping it at 5 surgeries, given that the odds of infection reportedly reach 100% with the 6th surgery? Five implants, then game over?

1 - 6.8%
2 - 18.2%
3 - 33.3%
4 - 50.0%
5 - 100%

Note that the 100% number at 5 implants was only for 2 patients. Not exactly statistically significant.

The P value is 0.01. Isn't statistical significance satisfied if < 0.05?

"The risk of specific device infection was strongly correlated and increased based on number of prior IPPs: 1st (6.8%; 3/44), 2nd (18.2%; 4/22), 3rd (33.3%; 4/12), 4th (50%; 4/8), and 5th (100%; 2/2) (R2 = 0.90, p = 0.01). Similarly, overall rates of infection positively correlated with number of prior IPP-related surgeries performed (R2 = 0.97, p < 0.01)."

Their overall conclusion that "The risk of specific device infection was strongly correlated and increased based on number of prior IPPs" has p=0.01, which definitely makes sense. But this dataset doesn't really make it clear that there's a hard 100% limit at 5 revisions.
