I can't understand why every surgeon doesn't copy Dr Eid's protocol

Also ; before i had the procedure done , along with reading everything i could find , I watched every episode of MTP by Doctor Perito , all very informative . And many visiting surgeons to his episodes ( EID ) being one of them . ( EID ). I believe uses the Perito founded procedure of the infrapubic .

Distance for a patient to travel to a qualified surgeon is also high on the list for a patient, not everyone can afford to travel long distance to have the procedure done . I had considered having it done in my home state , but happened to be in south florida and wanted a High Volume implanted for my procedure .. totally satisfied with Perito and would recommend him to anyone considering the procedure .

With Dr Eid I don't believe cleanliness after surgery even matters because of his stitching technique. With his technique I believe the only time an infection can happen is during surgery.

I would never do infra-pubic because that carries risk to the dorsal nerve so it can destroy sensitivity. If you've been circumcised since birth you don't know what penis sensitivity is though so it may not matter in that case.

Just curious how you know the specific procedures of urologists across the world?

I think the OP wanted to assert the point that Dr. Eid’s protocol appears to be one of the most aggressive and perhaps better than other surgeons. I am scheduled for a surgery with Dr. Eid on 03-Feb-23. Here are my reasons for choosing him.

- the fact that he is known to be amongst the best in the USA/World. This is supported by the numerous reviews on Ft and other websites.
- he is a very high volume implanter who only does penile implants
- his low rate of infection. When I went to see him he showed me a slide with infection rate of 0.38% over the last 3300 odd surgeries.
- the fact that he gives you the guarantee to preserve the size which he would measure before surgery
- the support staff that he has whose reviews are also very good
- he does penoscrotal surgery which is what I preferred
- you leave the hospital fully deflated and start cycling on day 3. I would prefer this than to walk around with a boner of 60% for 3-4 weeks. Being left with a catheter for 3 days is a downside with Dr. Eid
- the biggest reason is that he seemed to be a nice man who gives you the comfort and confidence to take such a big decision in your life. I remember how my mind was put to ease after just one appointment with him

I am very sure that there are very competent and good surgeons apart from Dr. Eid. In the end it should all depend upon who can give you the maximum confidence and comfort. I wouldn’t go ahead and say his protocol is the best but it is definitely aggressive and puts patient well being ahead.

Rest, I look forward to my surgery on 03-Feb. Will keep this forum updated on my experiences.

Good luck to all!
Peace!

I wouldn't argue with you at all. My biggest issue is he is about 2200 miles from me. There is alot of quality skilled implant surgeons between him & me. Oh, I'm more interested in an AMS product. But I've read old posts where he has used AMS. Perhaps he still does.
There is no way I would try to talk a member out of using Eid. I wish you the best outcome.

I downloaded the AMS surgical instructions a few years back. It is surprising at how little guidance it gives on the opening & closing of the incision. I do not remember any post surgical suggestions either.
To me, that alone justifies seeking out a skilled surgeon that does quite a few implants per year. Hopefully he also attends implant seminars so that he/she can discuss with other surgeons on what the best practices currently are.

Also, to address where the infections originate at. I've read that in many cases the germs are present on the patient's skin. Perhaps even are internal. The incision allows the germs to enter the body, a large incision in an area that doesn't get a lot of blood flow to it is a perfect breeding ground for infections.

No argument at all. I totally agree with you that it does not make sense to travel thousands of miles when you can find a surgeon who is equally good and can give you the comfort.

I am not here advocating for Dr. Eid. I only listed my reasons for choosing him. Of course and also the fact that I am in Nj and he is about an hour away :-)

If I was that close I might used him. The funny thing is that a few years ago there was a list bouncing around FT about top USA surgeons. Mine was on it seversl times. He in some AMS videos. I suspect being in a very low population state hurts his notoriety. I don't think it bothers him. Between his private practice & his VA work. His new patients are waiting 3 months to see him. After the initial visit they can see him quicker.

You wouldn’t know it based on the discussions here on FT but Dr. Eid actually does a high volume of AMS implants.

The day I had my fitting consultation with him, he told me Asians make up a sizable amount of his practice and AMS is popular with this demographic. Aside from China Town, NYC is also home to a large population of Asians from other countries. It’s the fastest-growing ethnic group in the city.

Of coarse he doesn’t recommend a Titan for every white or black man either. He didn’t mentioned numbers or percentages but I got the sense he was close to an even split between AMS and Coloplast. However here on FT it seems only his Titan recipients are represented.

This post makes me laugh. I had an excellent surgeon with over 7000 surgeries under his belt and a very low infection rate. Not sure how his technique compares with Dr Eid and don't really care. He did a great job with my surgery and that's all that matters to me.
