I saw this on Dr. EID's website:
Life expectancy of penile implants varies from 5 to 20 years and based on past historical data and current available improved implants. I estimate that an implant placed today will most likely last 10 to 15 years. Several patients in my practice have a working penile implant for more than 20 years. Like any other mechanical device, the penile implant is subject to wear and tear and the more it is used the sooner it will breakdown. Average use of a penile implant is considered to be one to two times per week. Patients with larger cylinders require more squeezes of the pump to obtain an erection which can decrease the life expectancy of the pump and tubing connecting the penile pump to the implant cylinders.

3 years for me. When I look across posts on this forum, I only find one user who lasted upwards of 15 years, and he claimed never to use it. I do see many with multiple revisions over the span of less than 10 years. It could be that early failures is what brings users to FT, and as such we are not a valid sample space. For myself I can say I was a reader and contributor before my 3 year failure.

HRC once it "fails" does it fail completely or does it just not work as well? How quickly do you find you can get in for a revision?

10 years use for mine, titan one touch. Put it through all the paces very satisfied with results in all areas and if my revision were to last me years I'd be very happy with that too.
62 yrs old first implanted 9/4/2012 Titan OTR, lasted 10 years failed on 9/7/2022. Revision by Dr. Clavell 4/5/2023. 24cm + 1cm RTE's, Titan OTR. 110CC cloverleaf reservoir. Penoscrotal both times.
Re: For those with an implant how many years has it lasted you with everyday use?
Hillywilly, My failure was slow paced. I was losing fluid from the reservoir which showed up as the pump running flat before fully hard. It got progressively worse. I noticed that if l left the fluid in the cylinders, the system did not lose fluid. My solution was to pump full, which was 75% hard, and leave it that way for the 4 months leading up to revision.

My first implant was the LGX and it lasted 3 years. My second implant was the CX it lasted for 4 years. I am waiting on a replacement right now. I used my implants every day and some days multiple times. The most I used it was about 4 times in one day. I put them through the test by using them.

I'm curious as to why your doctor installs so many RTEs, could that be a factor in their failure? From what I've read, minimizing RTEs is the best outcome, and many doctors state this publicly.
18+4 and 18+5. Seems like a 21+1 and a 23+0 would have been preferred. Does you doc give you a reason why he adds so many RTEs and doesn't just go with one the "proper" size? I say "proper" in quotes because there very well could be an excellent reason he does what he does, he's the doc, I'm certainly not.

He said that the pump connections would not reach that's why he had to go with the 18CM cylinders and the 4/5CM RTEs. He will have to use 24CM cylinders are longer this time. Coloplast has the correct cylinders, but he claims that AMS is the best implant.
