Due to a scheduling conflict I’m going to have to switch surgeons for my IPP. But I met with another surgeon that does an infrapubic (above the penis) incision instead of a penoscrotal (through the scrotum) and I haven’t given this much thought. So, I’m asking my implant brothers to give your infrapubic experience. I know everyone is different but this type of surgery wasn’t on my radar.
#1 How was your pain?
#2 Did you heal in 3 weeks? More or less?
#3 Was there much swelling & bruising?
#4 Most importantly, how long was it before you were able to test it?

Re: infrapubic surgery for and IPP
Here you can read what the top implant surgeon in the world (Dr. Eid) thinks about the infra-pubic approach:
https://www.urologicalcare.com/surgical-approach/
According to Dr. Clavell, it also has higher risk of damaging the dorsal nerve which could lower sensation.
The only benefit to me is the shorter recovery period for most surgeons, which isn't even guaranteed and is not a problem if you can have the smallest bit of gosh darn patience.
The shortest known recovery period is Dr. Eid with activation at 3 days, and he doesn't even use infra-pubic.

Re: infrapubic surgery for and IPP
Both concepts are effective solutions and are both done by high-volume implant surgeons. Recovery period and being ready to get activated depends only on your body. Only the scar is more visible than in the penoscrotal. My suggestion is not to choose your surgeon based on what concept of the two he is using.

Re: infrapubic surgery for and IPP
User Sswisfba recently had an infrapubic and is very happy with it. I’m sure he’ll chime in soon. If I recall correctly he specifically sought that approach.
I won’t go in to the reasons I chose penoscrotal , as you’re looking for infrapubic experiences. Good luck!

Re: infrapubic surgery for and IPP
Like most other things both have advantages and disadvantages. Infrapubic is said to be better for reservoir placement and Penoscrotal better for pump placement. But with a very good doctor those are no problem at all. There are other things as post above. Visible scar is only a problem if you remove pubic hair. Other wise it is covered up. Dorsal nerve is not a problem for a really good doctor. Tubing will exit the top of the cylinders and again not a problem for a really good doctor. Wound care is easier with Infrapubic. I had scrotal webbing removed so Penoscrotal was what I had done. It is also said to give better access. But some argue that Infrapubic approach can do anything that Penoscrotal can. And doctors differ a lot in how they do both of these approaches.
Hope you get some answers from the questions you asked from some men who had Infrapubic.

I had an infrapublic (IP) Titan Touch implant done on me on January 24, 2023 -- just 30 days ago.
I believe that you should choose the brand of implant (AMS700, Coloplast Titan or other) and the method of implant (IP, PS or subcoronal) based on your personal needs and preferences.
However, these choices oftten are predetermined by the surgeon chosen, who only does IP or PS implants using AMS or Coloplast IPPs without giving the patient any choice in the matter.
There is no doubt that the END result is the same whether you choose to do an IP or PS implant but there are differences in the process and pluses/minuses for each method.
-----------------------------------------------
Some people here think that I am an "advocate" for IP. I am NOT. IP was just the best choice for me.
I consulted with both a PS and IP surgeon before making the choice to go w/the IP surgeon who currently only uses the Coloplast Titan Touch brand of IPP.
For me, the shorter estimated surgical time required for IP (30 mins) vs PS (2.5 hours and the shorter estimated recovery time for IP (3 wks) vs PS (6 wks) were important factors in making my decision to choose IP over PS.
Other important factors for me were the far greater experience of the IP surgeon & his ability to schedule me for surgery earlier than the PS surgeon and the fact that I a prior double henia surgery which was a greater complication placing the reservior via PS than for IP.
For further details about my experience, you can take a look at my thread/journal here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=21069
-----------------------------------------------
Regarding your specific questions:
1) I experienced no pain whatsoever. I was given a large supply of Norco but didn't use any of it. I've only used Tylenol & Ibuprofen occasionally to relieve soreness in my dick and/or balls during the 1st 3 wks.
2) The surgical incision healed completely in 2 weeks. I do not have any hair down there but the incision is already beginning to become less noticable after 4 wks.
3) I had a lot of bruising and swelling at the base of my dick and on my ball sack for the 1st 2 weeks. All of the bruising went away in 3 wks. I still have some swelling in my ball sack 4 wks post op but it looks almost normal now. My doc said all of the swelling should go away in 6 wks and that looks to be good etimate.
4) I was approved to begin cycling (inflating/deflating) my implant 9 days after surgery. My dick was kept at about 70% inflated post op until then. And, I was approved to have sex and engage in other activities, 23 days after surgery.
I am between GFs and have not had the chance to f*ck yet but I started masturbating 2 weeks post op and everything functioned "properly" and "as expected." No problems.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions about my experience.
Here's wishing you the best for a successful surgery and a prompt recovery!

This 2.5 hour PS estimate you received must be from a surgeon unfamiliar with the process. Dr. Clavell offers both approaches and clearly states on video the surgeries are less than an hour. As of yesterday I can personally confirm that barring complications, less than an hour.

That's what the PS surgeon I consulted with said but he was NOT a high volume IPP surgeon. Quite the contrary. He said he only did 1 surgery a month which, of course, was one of the reasons I chose not to go w/him.
Glad to hear that the surgical time for Clavell (and I assume other more experienced IPP surgeons) is much less than that but that still wouldn't have resulted in a different choice in my case.

I realize it wouldn’t have changed your choice, you’ve stated your good reasons. I posted just to correct the statement for others making the comparison.

There very much is doubt, if you are willing to listen to Dr.Eid and Dr. Clavell, two of the best implant surgeons. Read my comment and click the link and you will see a lot of reasons to be doubtful.
