So here’s where I’m at currently in this process..

First things first, it DOES look like I will be getting the implant surgery done. By a stroke of luck, I have an appointment to discuss “all things implant” with one of the very BEST implant surgeons in the entire world. His name is Dean Knoll and he is out of Nashville, TN. This guy is very high volume and literally travels around the WORLD teaching doctors how to do IPP surgeries. I feel extremely lucky to have gotten this opportunity.

So after my first two appointments with other doctors and giving them my history of ED (11 years now) and to the point where Cialis and Viagra DO NOT WORK, I had a Doppler scan done to check for a venous leak, and I did not have one. However, based on my personal history and all the details, the doctor that works closely with and is friends with and REFERRED me to Dean Knoll does believe I am a candidate for an implant.

My appointment with Knoll is March 7th, please say a prayer for me!!! I am really hoping that I can have this surgery done end of March/April because I have several weeks off of work and it would time out perfectly.

In the meantime. I will use Tri-Mix injections.

Will update as I go along

I wish you the best of luck for a successful surgery & prompt recovery.

You don't say what type of implant your doc plans to do on you. Most can do both but some prefer infrapubic (IP) & others prefer penoscrotal (PS).

Speaking generally, the estimated "recovery time" for IP is 3 wks & the recovery time for PS is 6 wks.

Of course, you will NOT be fully recovered from the surgery in these time periods but you should be cleared for sex and & other physical activity within them.

However, depending on how well you heal & cope with pain &/or soreness you should be able to return to work before then.

I had an IP implant and, if I still had to go to work, I could have gone back to work in about 2 wks.

On the other hand, from what I've read here & elsewhere, if you get PS implant, it could take at least 3-4 wks before you would feel comfortable enough to return to work.

Just something to bear in mind during your "all things implant" discussion w/your doc on 3/7, if you only have "several weeks" time off available to you.

I strongly advise against infra-pubic. The only benefits of this approach are for the surgeon, not the patient. The longer recovery time is not an issue if you're not the most impatient person on the planet.

I just opened up a fortune cookie with the following message;

"A closed mind is like a closed book; just like a block of wood."

It seemed appropriate to mention it at this time because anyone considering getting an IPP needs to have an OPEN mind and consider all options before choosing the one that HE considers the best for HIM.

So, don't be swayed by the closed minded opinions of people here, which may have no bearing on reality or on your particular needs. Make up your own mind and proceed accordingly.

Hey Pro,

I was unfamiliar with this thread and admit that I skimmed it fairly fast, reading mostly just your direct posts. I didn't see anything about you resolving the insurance issue. My advice, now that you have a surgeon selected is to contact his office and have a conversation with whoever handles the insurance issues. This is all that they do, they, along with doctor, know what needs to be said in order for the insurance to cover it. If, they are unsuccessful, then it would be time for you to question the insurance company directly. Don't bring up your substance abuse, that is in the past, only discuss your current problem and the doctor's recommendations.

I am on Medicare, but I have an Aetna PPO supplemental policy, and both covered my entire procedure with no out of pocket expense to me. Medicare covers the procedure pretty much automatically and I know Aetna policies are varied. Just don't assume your past substance abuse disqualifies you, let the doctor's office and your insurance slug that one out.

Reading your posts I agree, you need an implant. Don't fear it, just put yourself into the hands of your highly qualified surgeon and put your mind on something else. Frank Talk does an excellent job of preparing you for the procedure, now just submit to the surgeon and don't worry about it, you will love the outcome and will soon be advising others.

Best of luck, have no fear.

Sorry but I have to disagree! I had IP and had a great recovery and incredible results. One of the nations top implanted uses this meathod. Perito in Florida! He is talked about probably as much as Eid is. Just saying.

Last week I was on the table, stiffy sticking up, with a female nurse and nurse assistant on either side.
My thought was, "well, this isn't the threesome I had imagined" LOL, but I resisted saying it out loud.

I know it's awkward to talk about, but they've seen and heard it all.

UPDATE!!!!

So, i met with Dean Knoll. He is HIGH-VOLUME and literally travels around the world teaching other surgeons HOW to do IPP surgery. He is “semi retired” and you cannot just call and make an appointment with him. It was by a stroke of luck that I ended up getting to see him. Another doctor I met with is good friends with him and contacted Knoll personally and got me an appointment with him.

So, I met with Knoll. He was VERY down to earth and listened to all my ED struggles I’ve had the last 11 years. Despite having a Doppler scan done by someone else (which showed I did NOT have venous leakage) he believed 100 percent that based on everything I was telling him that I DO in fact have a classic case of venous leakage. He performed his own tests and sure enough, I DO HAVE venous leakage. He says I am the perfect candidate for IPP and he himself will be doing my surgery!!! I am absolutely stoked!!!!

Now we are waiting to here back from insurance to see if the procedure is covered. I am hoping that with my past records of ED Medication, Psychological Therapy, and TRI-MIX injections as well as my new diagnosis of a venous leakage, that insurance will cover my surgery. And if it’s not covered I am prepared to pay out of pocket. So either way, it’s getting done!!!

He uses Boston Scientific AMS implants. He installs either an AMS700 LGX, or an AMS700 CX.

He examined my penis and said I will definitely be getting the CX implant because I have a lot of length (7.5 inches). He said the LGX is for men who are shorter in length. So I am stoked about that. I actually asked him if he was going to measure me before surgery so as to know the right implant to use and he said doing that doesn’t help him in any way. He said some of your penis is inside your body so a pre stretch test length or inducing an erection with tri mix and getting a length doesn’t matter. He looked at my penis and said without a doubt I have plenty of length and will get the AMS 700 CX installed.

He is happy for me and excited to do my surgery. He said this is going to be a life changer for me.

I am beyond happy!!!!!
