New Member to Frank's and Peinal Implants

Postby tomcat » Sun Mar 05, 2023 9:23 am

Hello, everyone.

I'm new to Frank Talk and the Penial Implant discussion. This coming Tuesday, I will have my first appointment to discuss my ED issue from cancer prostatectomy and radiation therapy. My doctor is Dr. Bahaa Sami Malaeb at Michigan Medicine. I've read many of the posts on implants and have viewed the implant device options, and hoping you all could share your thoughts and question with me for my appointment with the doctor. I hope the doctor suggests the AMS 700LGX, which seems most appropriate for me.
I am looking forward to all your thoughts and comments. Thank you for reading.

I had Cyberknife radiation treatment for prostate cancer (PCa) in 2010 but it did not cause any ED or incontinence, immediately or soon after treatment, as other methods of PCa treatment can.

My ED did not become noticeable until 10 yrs later, in 2020, and it did not become a "problem" for me until 6 months after that, which is when I decided to get an IPP implant to fix it.

I got an infrapubic Titan Touch implant just a little over 5 wks ago and am extremely happy with the results. I experienced a lot of swelling & soreness early on, which has mostly since passed, but I never experienced any pain whatsoever.

However, I'm not going to suggest that you get the same brand & method of implant as I did because you've already said that you did your research, have already stated your preference for the AMS (vs the Titan) and because the doc you have already chosen probably already has a preferred method of surgery (either infrapubic or penoscrotal).

So, I just wish you the best for a successful surgery & a quick & problem free recovery.

Good luck! 8-)

I am also going to Michigan Medcine Center in Ann Arbor on 3/17/2023. Doctor is Yooni Blair. i have tried VEC, Trimix injection and have a possible venous leakage. The injection was the best result but the erection would only hold if I stood up. The moment I laid down it went away. This was very disappointing, so I made the decision to get an implant. I would be happy to share what I find out on the 17th.
ED for 15 years, married 49 years, age 72, wife age 70. Tried VED and Trimix both failed. AMS CX 21 cm implant installed on 4-18-2023. There are no RTE's inserted. Dr. Yooni Blair University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI

Thank you for replying. My surgery was robotic, doctor's choice, I guess. Possibly because I had abdominal mesh from hernia surgeries. You mentioned infra-pubic surgery for your implant, which is what I'll have. How long were you under sedation and did you take any strong medicine for the pain? I'll ask about the Titan Touch. Are you happy with the results? Does your erection feel and look natural? Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for wishing me successful surgery and a quick problem-free recovery.

You’re in good company here friend. We are all here for the same reason and here you will find lots of information and genuine support from compassionate and mature individuals who have all walked down this road.

I was implanted 2 months ago. Penoscrotal Titan Classic. My recovery has been textbook with very little discomfort and good results. What you see and here about the “cycling phase”, which is when you begin inflating it fully on a daily basis for certain periods of time is where i am in the process. Consider this phase “rehab” of your penis.

I lost no length or girth. Thank goodness. i wasn’t that long anyway. But it’s hard as a spike, can hang a towel on it easily, and by now i’ve had a few orgasms with it. (Masturbating. Live launch in just over a week when i travel to see my girlfriend).

Best wishes and don’t be shy about any questions.

Hi, @Buzzer. That's great to hear that you're going to Michigan Medical center for your appointment to address ED with Dr. Yonni Blair. I've tried all those methods, have venous leakage, too, and possibly like you looking for a more natural way to have an erection. I was hoping someone local would respond to my post, so yes, by all means, let's share info about our appointments, surgery, and progress. Please direct message me and I'll do the same. Take care.

@Thailandbound. Thank you for your encouraging message. Could you share we me the pain and discomfort during the recovery phase? How did you decide on the Titan Classic and no end extenders? Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for your best wishes to me.

Welcome tomcat. Frank Talk is a great community for info on ED. My advice is when you meet with the doc ask any and all the questions you want answers to. There is probably not one question they haven't heard.
I will say I love my Titan. Hope all goes well for you.

Here you go Tomcat. My journal:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20981

My doctor implants both AMS & Titan per the patient’s preference based on his own research. I asked him for advice on this. He said that given i have a very vigorous sex life he recommended the Titan. I just followed his advice and went with it. Works as advertised. I do have the slight “krinkle” at the base of my penis when flaccid. Characteristic of the Titan for many, but not all, users. Doctor said most guys adapt to this in short order. I have, and frankly, they’re so subtle an outside observer wouldn’t notice. Not mine anyway. I mitigate by giving it a couple of small pumps to remove the krinkle normally. I have a bulge flaccid now where i didn’t have one before. I like it! AMS guys tend to report a more natural flaccid, and most guys seem happy with their erections as well. Honestly, i’m not so sure there ever really is a “right choice”. My doctor says it’s choosing between a Lamborghini or a Ferrari.

Pain is a genuine concern we all have. Even the toughest amongst us cringe at the thought. Especially if you watch surgery videos. I can report that apart from some pain immediately after waking up in recovery, which was attended to within literally 5 minutes, i only ever needed 1 pain pill and a few Tylenol. No acute pain. Soreness is more like it and was quite endurable and manageable. I used a donut cushion for about 3 weeks. Takes awhile for your your scrotum to get used to the new neighbor. Now, i have no pain whatsoever. Well, except cycling to full stretch, but that’s just rehab. Gets better everyday.

@OldGuy Thank you for the welcome and your response. I have a list of questions read and now I'm learning more with each response that I should consider the Titan over the AMS. I'll be asking that question. Thanks for your wishes.
