Question about the AMS700

Postby sliphill » Wed Mar 22, 2023 11:27 pm

I think I might have caused my AMS700 to fail. I would pump it up to the bulb got hard, and then pump it 10 or 15 more times. I read some doctor say that this isn't good to do, it could cause a leak, and sure enough that is what happened. So this one will stop when the bulb gets hard to pump. Can others that have the AMS700 share. Mine did last 5 1/2 years.

Mine is the same with the different types of pumps. What I think is that there is a pressure relief valve that prevents the LGX cylinders being over inflated. When the bulb gets hard and I "force" additional pumps that pressure valve directs the fluid back into the reservoir. Well mostly at least as I can tell the cylinder will cause a bit more stretching. I will inflate to max and when I feel a bypass pump stop. Then wait 5 minutes or so and add a pump(s) until I feel the bypass pump again and stop. I do that for up to an hour and longer if I fall asleep while laying in bed waiting for time to add pumps. I did not start doing that until I was 3 months post op. I followed my doctors instructions until then. I do agree with your doctor in that it does no good to keep pumping the bypass pumps. You are just wearing out the device for no reason.
