HIV risk when using injections?

Is there increased risk of getting HIV when using injections for sex but with a condom on?
The injection will create a tiny wound in the base and sometimes the condom might slip during sex and make this tiny wound vulnerable to hiv transmission.
Am I worrying too much or is this a valid problem with injecting and casual hookups or escorts?

Ummmm...just how far down do you roll the condom? You should roll it down as close to the base as possible. Also, if the condom slips, yes, you can get infected, but one has to ask...WHY would it slip? Unless you are putting it on half-ass, it should not slip. If it breaks, better check the expiration date on condom package. Do not store condom where it can crinkle and dry out!

OP: You may want to read up on some more recent information about how HIV is spread and the likeliness of getting it from someone.
The only way for you to get HIV from someone is if they are newly infected or positive and not on any sort of medications for HIV. There has to be a lot of virus present and a decent entry point for it to get to the bloodstream.
New research has shown that even people who have HIV but are religiously taking their medications and keeping their viral load close to zero have found that they cannot give another person HIV with unprotected sex.
This is not the be all end all of HIV education but there has been a lot of changes and research and moves forward to making living with HIV just that... Living. Everyone should still protect themselves and do the right things to make sure that they don't get it but I also think most people don't have to overthink about it and go crazy. Just regular common sense about STDs should also protect you from HIV.
I'm not a doctor but I could say with some confidence that having a microscopic needle hole covered by a latex condom is NOT going to be an entry point for HIV.

OP- Its an anxiety I have too. Its having worked in a microbiology labs over the years.
People dont understand the truly small size of a virus compared to the 0.32mm (yellow) needle that most of us use.
More times than not, there is some blood after I inject which I hold some tissue against until it stops.

However if you've got a condom on then you're protected depending on where you've injected i.e. is it covered by the latex. I personally have trouble with the condom tending to roll as im a lot more girthy at base, injecting at base for me gets better results. its you inject along middle and your condom covers this then your sorted.

if you are still a bit worried then I suggest you go to your local sexual health clinic, get PrEP tablets, you literally cant get HIV if you take these (but wear a condom too for protection against other STD's). either take 2 tablets 2hrs before sex or one tablet every day. In UK they are free although you have to say you're Bi or gay so they consider you to be higher risk than if your straight. The sexual health clinic are not allowed to pass any information to your GP (local doctor)
