Is your message count 100? A new message coming in to your inbox will be put in a 'holding pattern" until you delete some.

Before I send a PM, please note your inbox message count now, then try again to delete a message. Then log out and log back in and see what your message count is.

Let me know and I will send a PM so you can test what happens next.

yes mine counts 100% complete but it doesn't cancel them, does it cancel them for you?

Yes. Always has, never a problem.

I tried it a few minutes ago. My count was 98 messages (also 98%). I opened a message to read. I hit the "X" in the upper right and a window popped up asking to confirm I wanted to delete the message. I clicked on "Yes" and without doing anything else, about 5 seconds later (and the program refreshing its screens automatically) my count showed 97.

Click on the x. Then it asks if yoy're sure. Click yes again. After you are done the message will still show until you refresh the screen.

I am using Windows 10 on a desktop computer. I do not need to refresh the screen manually after I click "Yes" on the confirmation - the inbox messages roster and count update by themselves on my system.

Yes, newbie443's suggestion to ask Paul (system owner/administrator/moderator) to have a look might be in order now.

Question,, possibly a dumb one. When you click on the "X" and on the "Yes", you are using the left button, correct?
