Quitting smoking is a good idea regardless of the reason.

My quit date was back in December 2020. Didn't have anything to do with implant, but only replying to inform others out there that if you're having trouble quitting and haven't tried Chantix, just tell you doctor and get a prescription. It's a hell of a drug. The fact it worked on me was a surprise. I took some amount for a few months and subconsciously vaping less and less and finally I didn't need it anymore. Still get the urge on occasion leaving work or something, but no real desire. And now that it's been over 3 years without any nicotine (and instead a shit ton of weed lol) I'm pretty sure my heart and a lot of my other body parts are very happy I quit.

Over 5 years ago I stopped smoking cigars for my first surgery. And sometime after that I started again. For my revision I smoked the night before my 6:00 am report time for surgery. And I smoked again the day after. There was an old thread on this and it differed from smoking up to the day before and then starting again the day after like for my revision to quitting. Time to go smoke a cigar. Try doing a search for smoking.

I have not smoked in 10 years but I have used nicotine in various other forms. Dr. Hakky said it was a very bad idea to use nicotine after surgery so here I am almost 4 weeks out not using any nicotine for the first time since I was a teenager.

I smoked on the way to surgery, fired one up on the ride home. But that was 2019. Today I'm pretty sure they prefer no smoking up to two weeks prior, but at least the day of.
Had a surgery scheduled in 2021. No smoking for 14 days prior. I was a 50 year smoker then, wasn't quitting. No surgery.
Finally quit last year with meds and patches. Six months later diagnosed with bladder cancer, due to smoking.

Nicotine causes your blood vessels to constrict.

Constricted blood vessels impair the healing process.

Impaired healing process around your genitals is not something you want to invite.

You may not HAVE TO quit tobacco use, but taking a hiatus is a good idea if the effects of withdrawal are not too much to bear. And if they ARE too much to bear, you REALLY should quit permanently

I don’t think it really matters what others experiences were with nicotine espana. If you chose to smoke, chew or use nicotine in any form right after your surgery then you are increasing your risk of infection and delayed wound healing. Smoking had the highest correlation to infection of any other comorbidity.

My late father was diagnosed with bladder cancer after decades of smoking. They were able to remove it successfully, but his doctor said it would come back if he continued smoking. He quit. 8-)

Yea, guess I quit too late. Sucks because I had quit like 35 years ago for a whole year, then picked the habit back up during a stressful period. Quit again, lasted 6 months. I think nicotine is the most addictive drug there is.
