Re: Implant failure
Am I wrong or have they always said that the scar capsules start forming right away? can't all this time to wait lead to an implant with a bad result?
56, ED since 2010, pills work but not always and well, trt in progress improved but not so much, myocardial infarction january 2016, new stent september 2016, hypertension, venous on 1/23/23 titan one touch 22, no rte dottor Gabriele Antonini Italia
Re: Implant failure
My Dr said they prefer to wait and make sure the incision site has healed properly, usually by 6 weeks, the capsule for the pump, reservoir and implant usually take longer to fully heal from what I'm told and since you'd be replacing with the same ( size etc... ) That the healing afterwards would be easier and faster since the initial damage was already done at the first surgery.

Re: Implant failure
Same failure here. I’m going on with a failed IPP for almost a year now because of some unforeseen circumstances. Mine when it initially failed had a little saline left, but mainly air. Right now I can pump 3 times all of which is air then the pump goes flat.
Good luck, this is an ongoing journey.

30 yrs old. Current IPP failed in 2022. Waiting revision. No insurance. I’ve had both Titan & AMS.

Mine pretty much does the same, get three pumps in which you hear mostly air, gurgling/squishing sound, then the pump goes flat ( meaning it can't pull saline, etc from the reservoir ) and what hardness I had from after the surgery has leaked down, not fully as I still have maybe 20% erection, just not really enough to do anything with. Hoping they just don't draw this out, especially since I waited almost 2 years to get it because of covid. Told the Dr it's the way my luck runs, I usually get the messed up defective stuff... Lol

That's certainly the opinion of my doc

Re: Implant failure
Ok I'll find out more and post tomorrow, but I was "feeling" it out tonight and I can feel the tip of the left side in my glans and I think I can feel the right side. I say this because the left side is still inflated to about 40 percent I think ( it's still somewhat hard ) while the right side is pretty flat. The left side tip is pretty firm or hard but the right side is flat not hard or firm. Are the tips hard or do they flatten out when deflated? If so then maybe I have a pump issue and it's not letting the one side deflate ( left side won't deflate even when pushing deflate button and squeezing the shaft and bending it ) but in any case there is probably much more at issue as well since there is a lot of air in the system, just wondering if the pump may have failed and possibly caused the reservoir to fail.... Well hopefully I'll have the answers tomorrow and I'll post an update then.

Re: Implant failure
Just finished with Dr. According to the CT scan the reservoir is completely empty. He said that means that either the reservoir or the tubing developed a leak, he said that they would look it over when they replace it and then send it off to Boston Scientific for further study. He said that less than 1% of these fail, especially unheard of this early after surgery ( only about 12 days out ). He said we can stick with the AMS 700 or possibly go-to the Coloplast. I said might as well stick with AMS since everything should be the same which should make it an easier surgery and recovery and he agreed. He's putting me on a asap earliest as possible date, and told me they are backed up till end of August on these surgeries, but will get me in in less than a month, which means my revision will be done right about a month and a half to two months after the surgery. Not in the least bit happy, but definitely can't afford to go to a different Dr and play the waiting game again especially with a unhappy wife, not to mention one very unhappy patient.

Re: Implant failure
That stinks, can't do anything if the reservoir is empty. Hope Boston Scientific can find out what happened. And I hope they reimburse you for the failure.

Re: Implant failure
Well Dr's office called today, it appears that the only holdup right now is what days are available at the hospital to do the surgery. They sent over a request for the next months availability to the hospital and once they get it back we will decide on which earliest date that's available will work best for me. So here's hoping for a very early opening ( this week or next ) but with most of this week over, memorial day next week, and me having to be out of town the week after memorial day, it probably won't happen until around June 12th or later, but hoping for earlier if possible, I don't want the scar tissue that's forming to screw me over.

Re: Implant failure
Well latest update on this seemingly never ending horror story. I have to do lab work on June 12th and then finally have the replacement surgery on June 22nd which will be 10 weeks plus 1 day since the original surgery. Really sucks because at week 3 they knew they'd have to either fix or replace it and could have scheduled a replacement then and adjusted surgery if needed instead of making me wait another 7 weeks to get it replaced all the while letting the scar tissue build, only plus side is the same equipment is going back in, but I hope the scar tissue hasn't and doesn't impede the implant going forward. I'll keep updating this, but I think regardless of what the Dr says I'll probably start cycling at two weeks since that appears to be the consensus of the more experienced doctors as to when to start cycling, I just don't want to lose anything especially in length. Going to try and see if he'll implant the AMS 700 LGX instead of the CX ( which I currently have) he said we could switch to the Coloplast Titan if I wanted but I like how easy it is to find the deflate button on AMS compared to what others have said about the Titan. Here's hoping I don't get another defective device....
