Doubts when deflating the AMS LGX MS implant

Postby jrjrjr » Thu Jun 01, 2023 5:27 pm

Hello friends,

Everything is going very well with my recovery, I am in my sixth week, but yesterday the deflation began to work in a different way, before I had to press the button for about 4 seconds for the implant to begin to deflate, since yesterday it I immediately deflate I press the button and it happens in two ways:
1. If I gently press the button, it releases the liquid while I hold it down, if I stop pressing it, the release is interrupted, the liquid release starts immediately, I press the button, there is no need to wait a second.
2. If I press the button fully I feel a small click, immediately I release it, the prosthesis begins to release until it completely deflates, without leaving the button pressed for more than a second, just with a touch.
Since it worked differently before and when I look at the instructions I see that it says what to press for 4 seconds, I wonder if something strange is happening?

I have a AMS LGX with MS PUMP.

Thank you so much

Yes, something strange happened. The instructions that refer to 4 second press are wrong.

It is the depth of the press that "kicks over" the valve to deflate mode, not the duration of the press. This is similar to the "pop" yoiu feel when you make the first squeeze of the pump bulb for inflation.

Experiment around with inflation and deflation and you will be able to build a "truth table" that proves this.

I can depress the deflate button (a shallow depress) for far longer than 4 seconds and let fluid flow back into the reservoir and stop that flow by releasing the button. If I wish, I can depress further and get the click and then deflation continues even if I release the button.

I do not now why AMS/Boston Scientific has this misleading instruction.

This issue has been dicussed in a couple of threads in the past. Here is one:

I actually use and appreciate the "shallow depress" that lets fluid out until I stop pressing. Sometimes, I don't think the valve completely seats in the inflate mode and I can pump up to very hard but never get to the point that the pump is a marble and can't take any more.

In those infrequent cases, I lightly depress the button and feel the vibration, letting a little bit of fluid go back to the reservoir, then let go, which seems to reseat the valve and pump up again. Every time, this has lead to the marble.

If I want to fully deflate, I press the button harder for 3-4 seconds and it deflates (vibrates) on it's own until there's equilibrium between the cylinders and the reservoir, then I squeeze my penis a bit more to move more back to the reservoir and it's all good.

The 4 second instruction never made any sense to me either. It's a purely mechanical device, with no timer circuit I'm aware of. LOL
I often use a shallow squeeze durung sex if I've overinflated a bit and having pain in the glans.

If it happens to several of you, I suppose it is normal and everything is fine. Anyway, tomorrow I have a video call with my doctor, I'll let you know how it goes

The valve on the ams is a litter jiggy. You will get used to it. With mine I press and hold while gently squeezing penis. I get an annoying dog ear on the left of shaft so I leave a bit inside so as not to be a complete fold.
You will get used to the value’s performance
Good luck
