I've fought the same mental battle you have most of it during my early to mid 30s. Meds were always hit and miss, working my way up slowly to higher and higher dosages, more and more side effects, until the only thing that worked were injections. Now I cannot stick myself. When I hit 34 I was chained down to using a VED to achieve an erection. It took any and all spontaneous sex out of my life. My wife and I were basically stuck to doing it at night before bed and that started to become few and far between. I watched myself shrink down there significantly because it got to the point where our marriage was sexless for a long time.

I then found this forum and from reading began to use my VED to try and regain most of what was lost. I eventually spoke with Clavell and we determined that I may have a revision or two during my lifetime. We had a great chat during my initial consultation with him and it all but made making the decision that much easier. I got implanted earlier this year right after my 38th birthday and I've had more satisfying sex with my wife in the last few months than the last few years. It restored so much intimacy between us both foreplay and connection. We're so much happier with this decision. It also restored self confidence within myself. I feel complete and like a man again. It's funny how over time you end up feeling useless that you just accept it without realizing it.

Exhaust all options first but eventually it will become a weight and you'll be looking to unload it. I'm very thankful to have a reliable on demand erection at anytime the wife or I want it.

Seems to me you're not ready to make the commitment and I would recommend dont do it. I'll probably get put on blast for this but here goes. Part of making a commitment and feeling good about it has to do with knowing you have researched and exhausted all your options prior to pulling the trigger on an implant. You have'nt done this for example you havent tried injections not even once and i think its because younger people are impatient and want instant results. Please dont take this personal its not meant to be, but look at the posters in their 20's and 30's and the common theme is they want instant gratification and come to Franktalk looking for validation and usually get it from other like minded posters.

The risk associated with implants is significant especially as you move on to revisions, try all other options first and postpone your first implant until you have exhausted all other options, at that point you will be firm in your commitment. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck to you.

Have you discussed the malleable implant option with Dr Clavell? I think for young people with ED this is the best choice. You can easily use the malleable implant for more than 10 years! Even malleable can be with you life time.

Is it really possible for a malleable to last the implantees lifetime? I am 29 and need the implant but I live in a place that it is impossible to have enough money for an ipp and I will never be able to afford especially considering revisions.

I doubt the forever claims about malleables. Every once in a while we have a member visit & post. He got his malleable young. It has moved & perhaps is showing signs of deterioration. Causing him what he says is severe pain. Can't even get it removed because of no insurance and/or unemployed. Btw, he is a poorly controlled diabetic as I remember.
Please remember that almost nothing implanted in the human body lasts forever. Dental filings, heart valves, pacemakers, joints etc... All fail eventually.
Marktheman05, I would suggest that the best strategy is to seriously reduce your spending & work to increase your income. Btw, as men mature they normally move up the income ladder.

s Thank you everyone for your responses. If I could like replies, I would like each and every reply in this thread.

I should clarify on the stretching tissues point I made in my last comment. I most likely incorrectly translated what Dr. Clavell had told me. I will email him to get exact clarification on the risks of needing several revisions and surgeries. I don't exactly know what caused my ED. I herniated a disc over 10 years ago and I believe that coincides with when my erectile problems started. I also take medication that can cause ED but I started those meds years after my ED problems started,

After reading everyone's responses to my post, I think I'm leaning towards doing the surgery. You're right, I can't predict if I'll live to 80, 70, or even tomorrow. If there's a chance I miss out on sex in some of the best physically healthy years of my life, then it's probably worth doing an implant to resolve that and the future issues what will occur. That being said, there are also some very reasonable responses that encourage me to look elsewhere. I'm not going to dismiss those at all because a big problem to making this decision is that I'm not sure if I should stick with what i'm doing currently that sometimes works.

The question will be when I do the surgery. I think it's either now or I wait years until.I see how my sexual performance progresses over the years (if I get worse, then adjust tension). I would be lying if I said I wasn't considering to do it as soon as possible, even early as September or October.

What do you mean by tissue getting loose? If your tissue gets stretched more, wouldn't that just mean you get upsized with revisions?

I was told exactly what you were by Dr. Clavell. He said at 32 I’d probably need a revision or two but it’s no big deal just as long as I come to a skilled surgeon like him or the others. He didn’t make it seem like a bad idea in the slightest but was honest at the possibility of revisions. Not saying this person is lying or anything just isn’t what I was told by the same DR.

Don't know if this is a factual statement I'm about to make but , it seem to me like I've read that a lot of men got a bigger implant on their revision than what they previously had . When the time comes , it might be something to look forward to .

I've read that also. But a "bigger" implant can be misleading. Even if you get 1cm more. That is only a little over 3/8" to us Americans. Then that 1cm can be all proximal thus no length change or all distal which would be a visible change. More likely you could argue that about 1/3 of that 1cm would be proximal so maybe 1/4" is distal. Hey, I still pick up pennies. It all adds up.
I suspect that even if you do gain a bit over 1cm. You'd need some significant recovery & stretching time for the cylinders to actually stretch. There is a decent chance that whatever size you pick up might happen so slowly that you never notice it.
Sorry, long way to agree with you but cautioning you that it might not matter much. As always, your results may vary.
Btw, is there a backstory to your FT name?

Glad you got some good advice from a few members here. To repeat what most said at your age a couple revisions will probably be needed, but that is still a maybe. If you need a revision in the future implants will likely be improved.
Not sure of your relationship status but if you miss one year of sex is that 50 times, 100 times or more? Even as an old guy not something I want to give up. I'd be devastated and heading to the doc asap if I was your age.
Best of luck making the decision.
