Considering Rigicon infla implant..

Can you please tell me how soon can we resume workout after the surgery?

Are there any particular exercises that one has to avoid even after healing? (Squats, ab crunch)

Would like to know about the severity of the pain.. Does it start soon after the surgery or once we start cycling?

Also wanted to know why the pain is manageable for some and intolerable for others? Has it got something to do with the type of implant, or is it just due to the pain threshold? Is it true that penoscrotal is more painful than infrapubic?

Hello,

Congratulations on deciding getting an IPP. The rigicon implant is a new company which is not yet approved in the Us. But I do assume that it would be similar in behaviour to the Coloplast or AMS. The pain tolerance level is different for each individual and also healing happens differently. It can depend on various factors like overall health of person, skill of the surgeon, sizing done with implant, any other health issue like diabetes etc.

I would encourage you to look at informative videos of Dr. Eid, Perito and Clavell on youtube. Will give you a lot of information and put things in perspective for implants in general. The pain will usually happen immediately once the anaesthesia effect or nerve block goes away. But usually pain can be managed with a painkiller. Sometimes the pain in glans can become unbearable but this usually last for a short time (happens when you cycle)

There are a lot of good journals on Franktalk which you should read if you have not. Look at Tangerine’s pdf which is very informative. I have written my journal in all honesty and would encourage you to read. I am also from India though I had my surgery in the USA. Now I am back to India.

Striving Hard, I had the penoscrotal, so that procedure takes longer to heal from. I should get back to doing some weight and strength training in the gym, maybe I’ll start soon. I do ride a road bike and cycle a lot, usually over 100 miles a week. I got back on my road bike at week 5, it was a little uncomfortable at the beginning because you move around on the saddle, but it didn’t take long before I was back riding over 30 miles.

My doctor didn't want me bending over to pick up something for at least the first two weeks, but listen to your doctor because he will probably have a different protocol.

As far as pain after the surgery, yes you are in pain but the doctor will give you meds to keep the pain manageable. It also depends on how they put you under for the surgery, some methods last longer after the surgery so you're not feeling the full pain for at least a day. For the penoscrotal, it is more tender and hard to walk around the first couple weeks, everything is swollen. You'll still have some pain when you start cycling if you have penoscrotal procedure. I started cycling the device at 6 weeks and pressing the deflate button the first time was a little painful, then they want you to pump it up, I could only manage about 10 pumps before it was too painful to keep going.

I don't believe it has anything to do with the implant for the pain.

It's putting it inside you that causes all the pain.

Yes, it all depends on your individual threshold for pain and how your body is reacting to the implant.

Yes, penscrotal is more painful.

I had penoscrotal surgery for my implant. During that the doctor make a space (hernia) to insert the reservoir. I was on a weight restriction of 10lbs for some time. I cannot remember how long after that I was released for no lifting restrictions. But it is for some time as the tissue has to fully heal. This is a good question to ask your doctor as doctor differ a lot. No use in following another doctors instructions for someone else. Ask your doctor about this and follow your doctors instructions for you. Infrapubic surgery may or may not have different instructions. Again something to talk to your doctor about. Good luck.

Agree with what's been said on the pain, its different for everyone, for some its horrible, for me a sprained ankle was worse, just all depends.

I got the all clear to lift weights on Week 6, each doctor will have different recovery protocols but I think 6 weeks is a decent rule of thumb. But, like what's been said before, listen to your body, don't over do it. If you feel great on week two don't go out and do power lifting. Take it easy, 6 weeks flys by.

I had some other surgery and as I recall my doctor said that did not make any difference with him. But as I said it is best to tell your doctor as they do differ. I would say to tell your doctor but not to be concerned about it.

I also had a hernia repair several years ago.
I made sure my surgeon was aware of it, and it didn't cause any problems during my implant surgery.
