Pre-Implant Shopping List

Hello all,

Should be going in for surgery early next month. I thought it would be helpful if you guys who have been through it could chime in so that we can come up with a list of items needed to make post-op recovery more comfortable and bearable. It would be even better if you could add links to what you recommend.

Anything that you think would help. Painkillers? Creams? Clothing etc.? Things that I have no idea about but you guys will know etc.

I need to get ordering this week so any help would be much appreciated.

Frozen peas and frozen corn for ice packs because ice will be your best friend

After surgery and catherter, you will probably have some degree of difficulty urinating as you normally do (standing in front of a toilet). Aiming is likely to be problematic. So, I recommend taking the plastic urinal (most hospitals give you one) home with you. You can use it in bed, of course, which is its intended purpose. You can also (standing in your bathroom) urinatie into the bottle/urinal and then pour the contents into the toilet. Very convenient.

This sounds very important.

How about painkillers when you go back to have it activated? I think I remember reading people saying it is very very painful. Is there anyway to mitigate that?

I have read most men take an over-the-counter painkiller an hour before activation. In my case, it was not all that painful (my mind was prepared with the mantra, "no pain, no gain"). But it is painful for scrotum skin to be squeezed that hard. The bulb itself feels no pain, but pinching the skin is an unaccustomed feeling. But it will toughen up in time.
