Like many here, including me, we invoked a hernia.
For me, it's the royal alibi!

I'd like to chime in on this.
I am the not so lucky owner of 3 hernias! But fortunately, today's procedure are by Drs and robots...Laparoscopic surgery:)! Hardly any scarring! I have a total of 8 places on my stomach that was used to get into me and do the repairs (5 for one, 3 for the other (but just had the 3 2 weeks ago).
Anyway, I am hairy to begin with, so the hair covers up the healing, and later on, out of the 5, you can only see the on up top.

The excuse, to guys, about cyst on your balls is cringe-worthy enough, so I would use it IF you have to give an explanation.

My blanket explanation is surgery south of the border. That should take care of any prying questions (and just say 'suffice to say, south of the border...'). I'd rather not discuss it.

You can get creative. Good luck and speedy recovery.

I bike a couple of times a week with a friend. I told him that I was going to see my urologist about an issue "down there" and I probably wouldn't be riding for a couple of months. I assured him it wasn't cancer and left it at that.

Nothing came of it, he just asked me after our first ride a couple of months later if everything was OK.

For my adult kids that live nearby, I told them I threw my back out and just needed to take it easy for a couple of weeks, and that's why I couldn't lift up the grandkids.... I didn't want to risk reinjury.

I knew well in advance that I would be out of work for two weeks after my surgery.

Find out what your doctor's expectations are. Perhaps you'll be able to work.
