Pulling down on pump to help set it in good position

How many people have tried this with success?

My pump is very awkwardly positioned currently, the deflate valve is horizontal and is behind the pump, it hits the scrotum and my right testicle. I am 2 weeks post-revision.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I think it should settle had a similar issue for awhile. I don't know that pulling the pump down even does much I think EID advises against. That said Hakky asked me to do the same thing and I think I did for like a week. Anyways, sure your balls are still swollen should resolve with time.

My first (dipshit) surgeon never mentioned pulling down the pump. It eventually "settled" in a place where I could not reach both deflate buttons and stayed semi-hard for several months until revision one year after implant.

Dr Perito emphasized pulling down the pump. With a couple of pump failures, I'm now on my fourth implant. Each time Dr Perito emphasized "pulling down on the pump".

Hello Aussie:
I could be mistaken, but those who are asked to pull downwards on the pump post-surgery for proper positioning were implanted using the infrapubic surgical approach, rather than penoscrotal, or one of the other half dozen methods.
My surgery was penoscrotal and my specialist never informed me directly, or through post-operative written instructions, to pull on the pump.
Hope this helps you in some meaningful way.

The deflate button is flat, horizontally sitting on the bottom of my scrotum, just below and slightly underneath the pump. Reaching it and then holding it to deflate is very tricky and requires two hands most times.

The surgeon advised that my scrotum is small and there is no easy answer, I can try and manipulate it with my hands. I am guessing this would not be worth another surgery.

My only other option is not to cycle/use the device, or limit usage so that I do not risk not being able to deflate.

Any suggestions?

Not sure I understand correctly. So is your pump horizontal instead of being vertical? Cos when you say deflate valve is underneath the pump, it suggests either the pump is inverted or horizontal. Normally it should hang straight and be slightly behind the testicles and in between them.

I was told that I have a great position of the pump. But still I need 2 hands to inflate and deflate it. If that is something which makes you feel better.

Hey Atul,

It's hard to explain but the whole deflate button is flat and horizontal sitting on the bottom of the scrotum behind and slightly lower than the pump. I hope that makes sense. No idea what to do, cycling is difficult as the deflate button can be difficult to reach and also requires 2 hands to press.

I had infrapubic install. Doc told me to leave it alone which I did. Everything healed nicely.

My surgery was penoscrotal. I was advised by my Dr and the post op instructions to gently pull down on the pump as soon as you can tolerate it for the first 6 months I think. Pretty much the same for the daily cycling ( he just asked me today at my first follow up if I had started to yet and if not then to start cycling by fully inflating once a day for 10 minutes, he was kinda shocked when I told I've already started and been doing twice a day for 15 to 30 minutes each time.)

I think pulling down on the pump helps it to settle into a spot that's easier for you to manipulate. My pump sets with the deflate button facing my left thigh and cocked at an angle with the bulb to the right. It doesn't hang straight down but with the top to the left and bottom ( bulb ) to the right. It's very usable in this position for me, but I still pull down on it gently hoping to straighten it up a bit because sometimes the bulb sits in front of my right testicle sticking out, so sometimes looks like I have a hard knot sticking out in my scrotum.
