Implant on 10/24/13 Nervous

Postby franklambe » Mon Oct 21, 2013 3:50 pm

My surgery is on schedule for 10/24 (3days) and I have reading & re-reading about the surgery, pain, successes and failures. Last night was the very first time I actually questioned myself as to whether I have really thought this through or if I was making the right decision. My pre-surgical appointment with my uro calmed me as he sat with me for 30 minutes or more as his schedule was backing up. He took his time and I felt good about it. He assured me that the procedure would go smoothly as he does this on a regular basis with no complaints or failures.

I guess I'm just nervous and over thinking things. I came across a couple of posts on here with guys that were full of regret or horror stories. By the percentages (80-90%) it seems most people or spouses are satisfied with the procedure or outcome. I will keep everyone posted on my progress.

I was implanted with the Coloplast Titan in December 2007 after developing ED Post-Prostatectomy in February 2004.
The Implant completely corrected my ED and restored both my sex life and the emotional bond with my wife.
We celebrated our 51st Wedding Anniversary on September 8th and have been fully enjoying my Implant for the
past 5+ years and counting. I would do it again in a heart-beat!!
Wishing you all the best with your upcoming Implant Procedure.
Bob

Understand your nervousness and concerns. Even after plenty of research and questions answered I was exactly the same - until I got to the hospital. Once there I calmed down and let the doctors do what they are best at. I had my LGX700 surgery back in July and have not once regretted my decision. For me it was the best thing.
All the best with your surgery and keep us posted

It is a almost a year now since my implant. I still remember the nervousness, trepidation, anticipation and all kinds of other thoughts that accompanied waiting for the implant; it was worth it.

I got to worry twice. My first attempt on 10/1/2013 failed as they couldn't insert the catheter due to scar tissue in the neck of my bladder as the result of my radical prostatectomy. Got to worry all over going to my second date of 11/07/2013.

The results than were a piece of cake for me, little pain, little swelling, and little time away from work. It weren't no picnic for my urologist though, it took him an extra hour of surgery to work around old scar tissue. The end result is outstanding, at least when I want it to be.

Going in 12/3/13. A little nervous but more excited to finally be able to do something about my ED.

On another note, does anyone else keep getting pawn shop images when thinking about adding the pump to their scrotum?

Hey everybody, thanks for all of the support and comments. It really does help knowing others that have gone through it or will be going through it understand where im coming from. A sentence in one of the postings really stands out in my mind that makes me question this proceedure............."Once you go implant you can never go back!!" This sentence has haunted me like no other. I'm able to get about 60% hard at times, but pills & injections stopped working and vacuume device really hurts!! My Uro said...."you can stick with what you have or you can get the proceedure done and continue on with your life while enjoying it. Thousands get it done and it works!!" This makes sense to me. I miss the intimacy.

He has not told me what he is going to imolant as he says he will make the decision after he measure internally. Also, he says he will not leave it inflated for several weeks as I have read on here. he says he will leave it deflated and have me begin with light pumping after 3-4 weeks. I asked about scar tissue forming in that time and he says its not ennough time with the swelling/bruisning. He says most that are inflated are very sore for weeks. He said that I will be ok deflated and it will help with the swelling.

I'm not blessed with size (approx 4 1/2" flaccid) and around 5 1/2" erect through vaccuum.. He says I'll be around 5" to 5 1/2". Also, says i will probably gain a little if I pump a lot.

Any thoughts?
