Hi,I have a few questions concerning my upcoming implant surgery,I will be doing a journal. I am scheduled for surgery on September 12th with Dr. Hakky.
First question:
1. Opinions on whether to do penoscrotal or Infrapubic and why?,Eid does penoscrotal,Perito does infrapubic, Hakky told me he has no preference.
2. Hakky told me to bring scrotal support but there are various kinds and brands, any suggestions?
3. My biggest concern is the recovery process and the pain associated with it. Any suggestions on how to make it more tolerable other than the obvious,I have plenty of narcotics to use but I don't want to over do it. Plenty of talk about icing the area but Eid talks about hot baths, which is the opposite of icing, any help on this is appreciated.
4. I live in Florida and Hakky is in Atlanta. Optimally I would love to fly home as soon as possible but I have the ability to stay in Atlanta as long as necessary. Should I fly home a few days after surgery and then fly back for my follow ups or just stay in Atlanta for a month, how uncomfortable was flying just a few days afterward for those that did it?
15 days until I go Bionic!! I have a few questions.

I dont have answers to all your questions but what helped me most was ice, meds and baby socks, go buy infant socks to ware over your glands. I thought ice worked better than pain meds, i used a couple bags of frozen peas. Take it easy, i went to work 6 days post op, while that was fine for my desk job it would have been nice to have two full weeks at home.

Hakky did my revision..good guy.
1. Infrapubic is a slightly easier and quicker heal time, however, PS assures that you get the most length possible. My original implant was IP and I ended up with too short of cyindlers. Hakky then did PS and it worked out great. 98% of the time IP will be fine, but for me I have a slight abnormality with my eurthrea that caused IP approach to not account for extra space that was there..
2. Just find your favorite briefs, they should be fine. Whatever you would wear to the gym. Hakky leaves you 60% pumped or so..
3. You will ice for the first week or so. Hot baths with Hakky come maybe week 3 or so... if you do it too soon you can increase odds of infection.
4. I felt great the following day after surgery. You could honestly go on a walk, but do not overdue it. Florida is a quick flight. Schedule you flight for 2 days after surgery or so... however, Hakky does like to do a follow up around fay 4 or 5.. so you may want to just stay...

Congrats on getting a surgery date set. The implant will change your life.
They sent me home in a jock strap and bandages. The next few days I wore nothing but a bathrobe. Then I found boxer briefs gave enough support without being too constrictive. I used a kids sock to cover my glans for a couple months too.
I never iced because I don't like cold but also because no one told me that would help. Once doc cleared me a hot bath every morning was my pain relief. I took Percocet for maybe 5 or 6 days as needed. My advice is take a stool softener if you take any narcotics. Constipation is a pain you don't want while healing.
Can't advise about traveling. My surgery was a 30 minute drive from home. If doc wants a 2 week or less follow up I think I'd just stay in Atlanta. I do know on day 5 I drove the car and regretted it for the next week.
Best of luck. You did pick a world class surgeon.

Re: 15 days until I go Bionic!! I have a few questions.
My answer might be biased because it's what I had but, penoscrotal seems the way to go . I watched videos on it and it just makes sense . I confess I've never seen an infrapubic surgery done and am not sure how they do it . I do know that I've seen posts on here from men that had the infrapubic surgery done and they've ( not all ) complain about the pump being to high and hard to get to . Now the counter argument is your going to Hakky so I'm sure whatever you decide, he'll do a good job. Dr. Clavell does penoscrotal, no touch method and has videos on his website if you're curious on how it's done.

I just thought of a couple more points for penoscrotal that applied to me but maybe not for you ...... So in the penoscrotal they open up the scrotum of course but in addition to the implant surgery I had Dr. Clavell do a couple of cosmetic procedures . My scrotum was long on one side and he shortened it up along with scrotal webbing removal. It really enhanced the appearance of my penis and even gave the appearance of added length . I'm really happy I got that done.

No Hot baths ... from all the discharge instructions I have every received says no bathing showers only .. you have an open wound even if it is still stitched it is considered open ..

Re: 15 days until I go Bionic!! I have a few questions.
Guys .... On the runway ready for take-off to go bionic myself this Thursday (Cleveland Clinic) ... RP three years ago and also am having a mini-sling put in to hopefully stop the incontinence ... Anyone had a sling put in and how did it work out?
Nervous, Excited, & Anxious as you can imagine .. Biggest concerns are infection prevention, pain, Constipation post-surgery ... Was anyone kept overnight to monitor and have wound drains removed or did most on the board go home the same day after surgery?
Have gleaned alot of info from this board and any additional comments regarding expectations the first 1-2 weeks post-op. would be most appreciated

Mine was infrapubic and I’m in Texas and had a reasonably high volume local surgeon. Based on what we read I would think you’re in good hands with Dr Hakky.
A few thoughts:
Like a dumbass I didn’t ice anywhere near enough and I bruised bad. Strangely enough, I had almost no pain. Soreness for sure, but nothing I’d call pain. Nothing that interfered with sleep. I used a day or two of 7.5 Vicodin, then Tylenol, then nothing after about the 5th day.
Four or five days after surgery, with what appeared to be a much shorter dick, I wondered “what the hell have I done?” This stage passes but talking to other guys this isn’t uncommon.
Like I said, I was done infrapubic. How your surgery is done is going to be based on whatever method your doctor thinks will work best. Trust the doc. That’s why you (or your insurance carrier) are paying big bucks.
No two guys have the same experience. I’m not minimizing the guys on here who suffered thru pretty damned rugged recoveries. That being said, I didn’t think it was a big deal. I drove four hours in my truck (2 hrs each way) the day after surgery to pick up a kid from college. On day four I spent 3 hrs on the road going for a follow up at doctor’s office. I pretty much went on with normal life (except for heavy lifting) 24 hours after surgery.
Some of this might be attitude. I approach any medical procedure as if it’s not gonna be any big deal and I’m usually rewarded with a simple uneventful recovery.
Good luck to you.
Age 68. Physically fit educated red neck in Texas. Very married. 23 cm (18+5) of LGX installed by Dr. Bryan Kansas 12/31/2019. I fought the ED and my wife & I won. I’m either full of shit or sound advice. You decide which.
Re: 15 days until I go Bionic!! I have a few questions.
It’s been 20 months since my surgery. I had an easy recovery. No pain pills except for a few nights to ensure a good nights sleep. When I started to move around a bit, I realized I needed some scrotal support, so I ordered the dual pouch underwear from David Archy. Now, that’s all I wear. They are so comfortable, in my review,I said they were better than going commando. I wish I had been prepared and had gotten them in advance.
Best of luck to you.
Best of luck to you.
