I have an AMS LGX, and I have no issues whatsoever with how hard and rigid I get.
I read that the flaccid state is more natural with the AMS. I certainly wouldn't be happy with anything that stayed more bulky when deflated.
As far as girth, I was average at about 4.5" beforehand, and I gained a bit after cycling.
I think those who are dissatisfied with the AMS re. girth are thicker to begin with. The LGX expands in both dimensions, so I don't think you should worry about that.
Age 59. AMS 700 LGX 21cm + 2cm RTE.
Peniscrotal, 2/23.
6.25" OEM with Cialis, about 5" post-op. (11/01: Length 6.75" and girth is up to 4.75" mid shaft.) Still growing, albeit slowly. :D
Cycling daily. Hoping to get to 7". ;)

My question is, am I taking a big risk here switching from a Titan to an AMS? Will i lose those precious girth gains? Will the rigidity be enough for me with AMS after being used to a Titan device? I’m also scared about the bulkier pump on the AMS. Any feedback would be so greatly appreciated!!

I have an AMS LGX since 2017. Rigidity is as good as or superior to my most rigid erections of my youth. But you may indeed not be as girthy with the AMS devices as with the Coloplast Titan. The Titan starts out at a larger diameter. The AMS Patient Liaison told me he prefers the CX over the LGX because the CX can be stiffer than the LGX, but I cannot testify to that.

I don't know how a man can get "used to" anything stiffer than what I have with my AMS LGX. It is virtually unbendable when pumped up to the maximum.

The one thing that would sway me to a Coloplast Titan is if my penis was very long. The larger diameter of the Titan makes for greater beam strength (engineering term). Look up the terms "Moment of Inertia", "Beam Strength", "Column Strength", "Buckling Load" and "Beam Deflection" for more thoughts on that. Greater diameter simply gives more stiffness at the same internal pressure (plus a little boost of the stiffer Coloplast material). But having said that, I will remind you that my 18cm AMS is plenty stiff. If your penis will require something more than 21 cm total implant length, you might have a different experience. At 22cm for you current Coloplast implant, you are (in my non-expert opinion) still in a good range. Ask your surgeon to try to minimize the number of RTEs, though. It improves your erection angle and stability. (Again, my opinion.)

The pump may be bulkier but from what I have read on FrankTalk, may be easier to operate than Coloplast's pump. Mine has been reliable as a good bird dog.

I have the AMS 700CX and when I pump it up as full as I can get, it's like a steel pole inside. The CX is supposed to expand somewhat in girth but not length. So I'd say you wouldn't have an issue with how hard it gets.
AMS 700 CX 21cm x 12mm with 1.5cm RTE, MS pump, and Conceal Reservoir. Implanted on 4-12-2023 removed and replaced 6-22-23 with the same, 1st implant surgery had pinhole leak in left cylinder, second failure tubing at connector

at 22 cm titan its likely you'll measure bigger with the revision. They have 24 cm AMS so might be what you get.

Does the surgeon not perform coloplast implants or reason they don't like them?

My surgeon does both. After talking with him, i went from titan to ams - rigidity wise and performance is similar. I have CX which surgeon recommended rather than LGX for the concerns regarding curve/buckling.

He said he’ll be able to bury the tubing for me much easier with an AMS device, and also can install the implant without needing to use all those hard plastic tubing connection pieces that Kramer used so recklessly. Apparently Kramer connected the pump himself manually because he prefers the older Coloplast pump, but all that did was leave with palpable hard plastic tubings all over my penis. My new uro is patient, listens, and truly understands how important the esthetic aspect is to a patient, especially a young single patient. I think the fact that he works with AMS more often gives him more confidence that he can deliver me my desired result.

I don't understand why the tubing is easier to hide. But I can only find a very short piece of my CX tubing as it passes my shaft on the left side. There is a good chance that because I had a penoscrotal surgery that it was easier to hide. Also, I believe that he used a preconnected system but obviously there was at least 1 splice or my dr couldn't of put the saline in.
Maybe because I had a deep crus helped also. The tubing might exit the tunica lower leading to a deeper routing of the tubing. I'll never know but my tubing is well hidden & doesn't cause any issues.

As I mentioned in another thread, I have the CX and my wife does not enjoy full inflation. It's too hard. So, I have no (personal) worries about rigidity with my partner, it can be too much.

I purposely chose a doctor that implants both options, so I felt like I didn't have to just take whatever the doctor was offering. I had complete decision making power over which one I thought would be best for me. After doing as much research as I could, I decided that the AMS was a better fit for me and my lifestyle. Without telling Dr. Clavell what I had decided, I asked his opinion, he told me it was completely up to me, but for my application he would go with the AMS. That sealed it. Now I'm 7 months post op and am reliably 7x5.5, and sometimes more depending on natural engorgement.

Also, the AMS is costlier than the Titan, but he does not adjust his prices to reflect that, he wants what is best for the patient. Clearly he was not pushing me to the one that would put gas in his MBZ that month (I don't know if he has a MBZ, I'm just making a point. He probably has a Lamborghini)
2/22/23 AMS 700 CX 21cm + 1.5cm RTEs. 58 yrs old, wife of 37 yrs. Penoscrotal. 100ml Conceal reservoir. Dr. Clavell. Pills failing and went right to implant, skipped the injections. 12 mos. later: 7 1/2" x 5 3/4"
