pre-op diet / supplementation questions

Postby johndoe365 » Tue Oct 17, 2023 1:49 pm

Hey all,

Getting my implant Nov 1 (30 years old, ams lgx, penoscrotal, spinal anesthesia).

The only instruction I received from my urologist for pre-op is to fast for 12 hours before the surgery.

The hospital also gave me a pamphlet for all their surgeries where they say no vitamins, protein powder, omega 3s for 2 weeks before surgery.

My question is, can I still take protein powders and multivitamins normally? I still go to the gym daily and would like to at least take protein powders.
Implanted Nov 1 2023. Penoscrotal. Ams 700 LGX. 100 CC reservoir.

I don't understand your question, you stated that the hospital pamphlet clearly states no protein powder so why are you asking us if you can take it??? I was implanted last month and my hospital told me no supplements or vitamins of any kind and no low dose aspirin or Mounjaro.

The hospital pamphlet is too general. Theres thousands of different types of surgeries where different precautions must be taken depending on the type of surgery.
I dont really see how having a protein shake would be bad for this specific kind of surgery.
I would assume my urologist wouldve stated to avoid it if it had complications with our specific surgery.
As far as the urologist was concerned he just said to fast 12 hrs prior.

Anyways, i appreciate your feedback! Im currently avoiding everything 2 weeks prior just to be safe as well

Dr. Hakky told me my recovery was very fast. this is 100% ancedotal but I feel like I can attribute my quick recovery to the following:

1) Gluatamine- For SURGERY RECOVERY, L-glutamine stimulates wound healing and the formation of new protein, slows breakdown of tissue proteins, and is an energy fuel for muscle cell division. Glutamine is a primary metabolic fuel for the rapidly proliferating cells involved in wound repair. After surgery, tissues need much higher glutamine levels for repair because elevated cortisol from trauma and stress depletes glutamine reserves. Taking extra L-glutamine reduces complications after surgery, and lessens overall hospital stay times. https://doctorherdmanclinic.com/resourc ... glutamine/

2) Clomiphene Citrate (ordered from india)- took a micro dose of clomid to boost my testosterone levels which are not low but my thinking was to slightly raise them to that of a pubsent teenager as typically thats when your penis grows and it is filled with androgen receptors

3) Tadalafil- I used and continue to use 20mg tadalafil to flush my smooth muscle cells with rich oxygenated blood I don't take the dose every day like I did pre-op but I do take it every other day to take care of my smooth muscle cells.

4) Use- Used it pretty much everyday since Dr. cleared me the penis is a muscle and regular exercise of it keeps it healthy.

Avoid substances that influence the clotting time such as aspirin (and possibly high doses of omega-3) or that interact with the absorption of medication. This does not apply to protein powder. If you weren't allowed to take that, you wouldn't be allowed to eat steak either.

I am on TRT (testosterone replacement therapy), which means my hematocrit values are quite high (but still within the normal range). A few months prior to surgery, I asked the surgeon whether this was a problem. That was not the case.
