Implant Dr. EID - Best Insurance plan - Blue Cross or Medicare

But I will have Blue Cross in January, and yes, let the staff at EID find out what they cover, if anything.

Medicare plans are my plan if Blue Cross won't cover. its just getting the correct plan. But my guess is that EID can help with that also, or people here.

I enrolled in Medicare A & B plus I bought an Advantage plan from my insurance carrier that was available to me through my legacy plan from where I retired from. I did this at 65.
My pre surgery lab work showed a minor bladder infection. I paid a few dollars for the prescription. Dr required a new culture to verify that it was gone. This included a new A1C test. Insurance only paid for the first culture & the A1C is only covered every 90 days. I was short of the 90 days so the culture & glucose test cost me $190.
I paid for my pain meds pre surgery at a big box pharmacy. Might of gotten a few days of antibiotics. I don't remember for sure. Guessing around $10-$20.
I did buy a urinal & some minor supplies. Didn't open them & saved the receipt. Returned what I didn't use. Oh, 100 pill bottle of generic ibuprofen. We already had acetaminophen cause of my wifes arthritis. Rotate every other dose taking them. They're the only nsaid's that can be mixed.
Overall, I think the implant cost me around $300 out of pocket. I've paid more at the dentist before. Some of the best money I've ever spent. No exaggeration.
Just a word of caution. I know that we think that we're tough. But this surgery can take a year to recover from is a reality. Not so much from pain. But you have to get your mind braced to be diligent in your daily cycling routine. Do not get complacent & slack off. Keep your eyes on the long term goal.
At close to 6 months I still pump as hard as I can at least once a day. Leave it pumped up as long as possible. My dr showed me a method that applies the most leverage.
In my case I don't get stretching pain in my glans. The sensation to me is more of an itching feeling. Many men feel that as long as you're getting cycling pain, you're still growing. Do not measure yourself. It'll drive you crazy. Any growth you get is so gradual that you can not track it with a ruler.
I trust the cycling discomfort more. I think its a better sign for me than measuring.
Now I'm getting to the point of "what the hell is this big flacid dick doing in my way" thoughts. I used to only get those thoughts after sex.

All the Medicare plans D, G, H, whatever are just added on policies of stuff you may or may not need. Prescriptions, medical supplies, and the free food/rides/money back Advantage plans are very confusing as to what one to get.
However, you can use BOTH Medicare Part A & B and the BC/BS plans together! Using both should lower your co-pay to near zero. But again, the doc's billing office will be best at getting you approved.
For Medicare options consult an adviser to help select the best plan. There are many non-profit, no fee folks that only give advice and won't try to sell you anything. How they make money I don't know but one helped me.

I have traditional Medicare A and B, along with Blue Cross 65 to supplement Medicare. I also have a drug plan. I do not trust Medicare advantage, it often requires pre- approvals for care. With traditional Medicare, pre approvals are not required. Never have had a problem. Very pleased.

For whats its worth. My Advantage plan is through the same company that administers my former employers group insurance. Not sure it matters in my case.
I didn't have any trouble getting my implant covered but I'm thinking the skill of the drs billing & coding people is important.

I had a phone call with EID office today. along with all this advice, it should be easy to figure out.
They recommend Blue Cross as primary, and Medicare secondary. but if BC doesn't cover it, then MC will.
Basically Medicare Traditional, with MediGap to cover the other 20% so no out of pocket, and then the other coverages as needed for drugs, etc.
I plan to attend a Medicare seminar next month, so I will have enough information.

I believe Medicare is always primary, covering 80% and you need a supplemental (ie. Blue Cross Blue Shield...as I have) to cover the remaining 20%.
The supplemental will always carry the balance of ANYTHING Medicare will cover.
At least this is how I have seen it for the last five years on Medicare.

True, Medicare is primary. Any other insurance covers according to the terms of their policy.
