So, I'm looking for my testicles and pump.
Had the implant Monday 12/4 and can't locate anything in my scrotum. It feels like it's burning when I touch it and filled with sand.
It's the size of a grapefruit and feels like it's sitting on the damn barbeque every time I try to touch it. Clavell (in a video) warned about pulling the pump down too early but she... My urologist...insists....
Since there doesn't seem to be anything out there.... What did you guys do?
How long to find the testicles/pump?
When did you start to nudge it (the punp) down (for the penosctotal only)... And finally...
How many had a separate cut on your belt line to place the reservoir??
Yeah. I got that too.
I'm basically swollen like a tree and black and blue from my waist to mid thigh.
Been down, gel packs, horizontal for swelling.... They're saying no heat. Continue cold pack... But I'm thinking heat...
Idk there's no consensus....
Thanks all,
Forrest

Re: Soooooo. At what point.....?
Not an expert or Dr here, and did stay at a Holiday Inn, but I really think it's way too early to be trying to pull the pump down or much of anything else right now. My original implant , I went through similar issues. The swelling in the sac is really stretching the skin. And I think that stretching is what's causing the burning feeling. Most everything else your saying is fairly normal I think. One of the things I did which seemed to help was to most definitely use a lot of ice. But I also would use a heating pad, hot water bottle, or what ever to apply heat to the balls and dick. Alternate between the two. If you use heat, the skin will relax a little which helped my burning feeling some. It will also, at least for me, will let you feel around a little more there with a little less pain.
But you have to remember, you've had a tremendous amount of trauma done to your dice and balls and they are going to react.
Hang in there. Ice and heat are your friends. And as hard as it is, and we've all been there, don't rush things. Do what ever you can but don't over do it.
Best of luck

Re: Soooooo. At what point.....?
Seems way too early to be touching anything and you need to rest and get the swelling down, ice pack etc like u are doing . I didn’t touch anything until 3 weeks post op. Has the doctor put the implant in a semi erect state? Can the urologist or nurses help over the phone?
Re: Soooooo. At what point.....?
It's way too soon to be messing with anything. First concern is the incision, if it is not fully healed sticking your hands down there is not good because hands have more bacteria on them than anywhere. Then why if you're already in pain do you want to create more pain by messing with it? Don't think I touched anything for a few weeks, with the exception of showering. Relax and heal up. It's gonna be a long ride.

You were penoscrotal, right?
There are mixed reports coming from patients of two of the most mentioned doctors here. Eid & Clavell.
Eid’s patients are inflating/deflating within days. Most reports i’ve read (including “Merrick’s” excellent journal) describe at times almost through the roof pain at the earliest attempts. It is what it is. He’s the doctor.
Next is Clavell. He inflates to 50% and instructs his guys to not touch a thing for about 6 weeks. That was me. I didn’t even TOUCH the pump for a full month, and then only gentle nudges (“ah ha, there it is”). At 6 weeks my scrotum had healed and the earliest days of cycling were not bad at all. No way was i pulling anything down in the earliest days. That’s a Clavell trademark. Consistently great pump placement. I do believe Eid is the same.
I’m mystified why, if you had penoscrotal, you are pulling anything at all given your recently sliced and swollen sack?

Re: Soooooo. At what point.....?
Sounds like you have a Scrotal hematoma. It’s mostly associated with vasectomy but can happen with any scrotal trauma. Google it and you’ll find lots of articles including care tips. I had the same thing. When the mummy wrap was removed, my scrotum was swollen a little as I expected. But over the next 24hrs, it puffed up to softball size, turned bright red, and felt like it was on fire. It’s the worst memory of my recovery. I regret to say, you’re in for some uncomfortable days ahead. But like most things with this surgery, you’ll get back to normal with time.
Basically you want to use anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for the pain. Ice is recommended during the first 3days to control the swelling. After 3 days, switching to heat therapy is recommended which helps the body absorb the blood trapped in your scrotum. Cold slows down blood flow and is numbing which temporarily feels good but heat promotes the healing process. Get an electric heading pad (12”x24” size works good) and use it often. You should notice some swelling reduction everyday. It took two weeks or more before my scrotum size was back close to normal. It took about a month for the skin tenderness and all the bruising colors to fade away.
One tip you won’t find with Google; Applying Neosporin Pain Relief Cream (not ointment) to the scrotum gave me a couple hours of relief from the burning sensation.
I read that some doctors install a drain to speed up the process. My doctor was not in favor and said drains present a source for infection. He advised me to tough it out as long as the swelling continued to go down with the heat therapy and it did. He also said to forget about the pump until the scrotal swelling was under control and I could feel the detail of the pump.

Re: Soooooo. At what point.....?
Thanks let me answer your question...
The doctor instructed me Monday, surgery day, to locate the pump Thursday and gently pull it down when I go-to the bathroom....
On Monday/Tuesday things looked fine. 4" slightly erect penis, pointing up. All was good , pink, pretty until Tuesday night.
Cath came out Tuesday 93 ...thank God, bandage wrap came off...Uh Oh!
Got home, disaster. Parts becoming unrecognizable.
I'm not trying to pump...I'm just trying to locate and gently pull. I'm trying to do exactly what she's said to do....but...my confidence in her advice is raining waining.
And now, nothing put pain to the touch, swelling, etc, etc. At one point yesterday I thought I'd lose my penis to the swelling...
Basically I can see the head.....

Re: Soooooo. At what point.....?
You can try ibuprofen & Tyenol alternating each one. They help with swelling.
I did sleep with a hot pad pulled between my legs for a while.
My nurse told me to just give the pump a little push down everytime I peed. In my mind the word "pull" sounds too aggressive. Maybe the first week what was actually happening was I would give the area where the pump was at a small push. I guess the best advice is to adapt their instructions to match your conditions. As you recover then you can change what you're doing.
Good luck. It does get better.
