How would you define an a experienced surgeon?
Somebody who does 100 implants per year?

Been implanting at least 10 years?

Can do both AMS and Coloplast?
40 YO. Been on pills since late 20s. Pills now starting to not work. Might be vein leak. Dont want injections. Hoping to get checked out next month for implant.

I think it's also about outcome and relationship. My surgeon had guided me through prostate and e.d. issues on the journey to implant.

She's also highly skilled and more than profeccient with DaVinci. Over the last year after ny prostate resolved, our attention focused back to Implant.

She was willing to install any type or wait. She said she'd put in "hundreds, no, thousands of these now". "It's your penis and your call".

Due to my job and workload (golf course superintendent) I like to have things done discretely, in the off season when I normally take my leave ..

Her advice was simple. "I'll put in what you think is best for you. I don't tell you what to do on this one. This is an elective surgery. "

I asked her for her recommendation. "This is why I hired you. You're the Dr".

She liked to Coloplast Titan. "It will fit you good and give you an excellent result".

That's what my own research had come to without her opinion. If she had said malleable or the other brands we would have discussed rigidity and the my other issues in greater detail.

My concern was reliability, longevity, feel, success, recovery and total outcome.

Another consideration:
If things go bad what?

My conclusion:
Ifthings go bad she has the skill set and knowledge to handle it.

Bear in mind I'm 6 days out (12/4/23) from surgery. There have been some nasty situations with very tough, rough and painful moments..I hate surgery, hospitals, and attention to my plumbing....

Would I do it again? Would it be her? Would I/we pick the same device?

You're darn right.

Hello,

Did she do it under general anesthesia? Infrapubic or penoscrotal approach? Did she install a drain?

Hope you get better soon and give me an update. Take care.
I am still doing my research. Going bionic makes the most sense to me.

My surgeon told me he does 2-5 most every week. Happy with my outcome.
Most implant surgeries are done under total anesthesia. No way I'd want to be awake while they be cutting up my penis. Drain was installed through a small incision in my scrotum. I was penoscrotal approach, and I think doc clipped off some excess skin at the same time. That incision stayed sore for a long time.

There were 2 cuts. The first was bPenoscrotal, maybe about 2", stitched closed. The second was an access on my right beltline to insert the reservoir.

I'm not a small guy. 6' tall, 215#.

Sedation was iv versed and general propofol. I asked the anesthesiaologist to do a couple things. 1: tell me what you're injecting when you do it and 2: tell me what it will do.

I knew what the drugs do but at that point... Hearing a voice is good

There were no drains
Catheter out the next morning

The implant is my last hope. Shots are $300 a month. They don't work for me. The medications, waste of time. Didn't work and it they did, by the time they kick in, I'm asleep.

Dr Perito implanted me and has done over 8000 surgeries. I'm one year in with Coloplast Titan and functioning beautifully. I was post prostrate removal/cancer at 1.5 inches and now closing in 6 length and girth. Great Dr and a great guy.

To answer you better you should fill out your signature line. Include what country you live in & age.
Just to clear up a few replies to your questions.
As you learn things. Please consider the men posting comments. Men who have had cancer, peyronies or hernia surgery can have different surgery needs & outcomes than others.
Drains are not very common & likely vary by the patient & his conditions. Same for an incision for reservoir access. Most men do get a catheter for 24 hours. No big deal. I've had them twice. Yes they are annoying but not a deal breaker in my mind.
Don't worry about pain. Each person has different levels of pain. There is a post by a man saying that the man implanted right after him by the same dr had more pain than he did. Pain is treatable.
Seldom will you spend much time in the hospital. I was discharged that afternoon. I did ask my dr if it was a little quick. The logic is the quicker they can get you out of the hospital the quicker you get away from the sicker patients that are in the hospital & you run the risk of getting infections from them.
AMS vs Coloplast is an endless debate. Many drs do both. Mine only uses AMS. He has done YouTube videos for them. Even if you have peyronies. The AMS CX will treat it but I'm fairly sure on the most severe cases that a Titan is likely a better choice.
Lots of men like the idea that a Titan might give you more girth. But its hard to get more girth than your tunica will allow. Yes, if your body will allow it. You can get a 6" girth with an AMS. I did with my AMS CX. But pre ED I did have slightly over a 6" girth. So I got it back.
Find the closest dr that does a reasonable number of implants per year. Make sure he keeps up on new developements in the implant industry. Make sure that you trust him. Ask him which implant is best for you. He'll decide the implant size during surgery.
68yo, HBP at 40, high triglycerides at 45. Phimosis at 57. Type 2 at 60. Dr. William Brant May 1, 2023 CX 21cm w/no rte's penoscrotal 6" girth @ 6 months

I mean: I would be wary of a woman understanding the importance of a great outcome with this sort of procedure. I’m not doubting her ability…just the simple understanding of what a man wants from this.

And

West Virginia isn’t exactly the place I think of when it comes to the best doctors. I grew up 40 minutes from Huntington WV and I know what kind of service you get around there in almost every field
